Hi everyone, I am writing to see if any of you take calcium supplemts or alternatives over milk and milk products. I drink soy milk-enriched with calcium, but what about pills?I am off to the doctor and then my midwife soon, but I was just curious to others experiences.

I drink Soy Milk as well! I love it and it's better for you then normal milk...but I also drink the Skim Milk with Enriched Calcium. Because of the prenatals I'm not sure if it is safe for me to take anymore pills, so I don't.

I beleive that it is recommended for pregnant women to have over 1200mg of Calcium daily. There is only 300 in my prenatal vit. so I take 2 600mg of Calcium supplements a day as well. My doctor said it would be fine. I also drink milk, I just didn't want to rely on me drinking enough everyday to meet the recommended dosage.

Have you tried those chocolate calcium chews? They are a great little treat and good for you! But be careful, I was getting too much calcium and got constipated. So now I am off these chews and just drink milk, take prenatals and eat yogurt. But if you are lacking in calcium, I think these would be a great way to supplement your diet.

I take calcium pills because I don't like the taste of milk, so I was worried that I wasn't getting enough calcium. The only problem with the pills are that I get morning sickness so bad that they normally dont stay down, no matter what time of the day I take them!
