When in doubt, ask your doctor. Every pregnancy is different, as everyone's health issues are different. My doctor said Diet soda in moderation is fine, for me. Just by call your doctors office, the nurse on staff should be able to tell you. I drink 64 oz of straight water a day but also have other beverages too: Juice, etc.

If you must drink diet soda, drink diet rite. It is the only soda I know of made with Splenda, which is in the safe zone :)

I think the Aspartame in the soda is not good for the baby.

accord to my dr, drink it sparingly, (ie, as an occasional treat) and you'll be fine.

My dr. said 2 diet sodas per day would be okay. And now diet Coke has Splenda, too. My favorite drink to order when out for dinner is this: All the fruit juices with a splash of club soda. No extra sugar from club soda like Sprite would be. And it's good for ya - fruit juices! If I haven't had any or much caffeine, I'll order iced tea because I always carry packets of Splenda.

I've heard the Asparatme in diet sodas have been known to cause birth defects and in a recent study in small children it's been proven that it can cause mental retardation even after the child is born.
