Just Tested Positive And Overweight Questions

I don't know how far I am yet, becuase my last period (in May) was SO light that now I'm thinking it wasn't a period at all... And the tests are showing VERY dark lines immediatly, so my hormone level is pretty high. I guess I'm probably 5 or 9 weeks? I'm seeing the doctor in a week and 2 days. I weigh a lot, 233. My high was 285 in October 06 so I have dropped 50 pounds since then, with about 7 being in the past month, which is scarring me now. I was doing Weight Watchers, so I was eating pretty healthy, but now I'm worried about the weight I lost before I knew. And I'm also worried how I will keep my gain to only 15 pounds! No one I know has done that, but to keep the baby healthy and reduce it's risk for problems later in life that is what I need to do. Any advice would be appriciated. I already started a new food idary and am tracking fruits.veggies, calories, fat, calcium, and protien as well as a daily morning weight so I can show my doctor when I go...

Talk to your doctor when you go in for your appointment. 15 pounds does sound like a hard number to stick to, but your doctor may set you up with a nutritionist who can address your specific situation. I'm sure that the weight you lost before you knew you were pregnant will not be a problem, since at this point the baby does not need much food at all and plus so many women lose weight during the first trimester due to morning sickness. Most importantly, don't worry and enjoy your pregnancy!

Hi hmeadq! I am also early preggo (I have one son 2.5 yrs. and have had one miscarriage, about 10 months ago) and overweight. I am 5'7" and weigh 220. I was on glucophage for about 3 months b/c we were trying and needed some help in the ovulation dept. b/c I have PCOS. So I had gotten down to 209 but then was gradually getting back up again and leveled out at 215. Then I started getting nauseated in the middle of the day so I stopped taking the glucophage, thinking it was the pills making me sick -- WRONG! I was preggo. So, just to let you know...It isn't impossible not to gain a ton of weight. My first pregnancy, I thought I was sooooo fat at 177 lbs. I only gained about 20 lbs with that pregnancy. I gained all my weight after I went back to work (Hated leaving my baby every day and I was an elementary school counselor and there is NO place on earth that has MORE FOOD available throughout the day than an elementary school! it's terrible -- so i packed on the pounds). Now I am really concerned. My blood sugar level prior to starting the glucophage was 113. I am trying to control it now by exercising regularly. But at the same time I'm worried I'll hurt the baby with overdoing it!!???! I don't want to lose another baby. It was so devastating. Do you have an exercise plan in place that you feel is safe for the baby? Let me know b/c I could use all the help I can get!!!
