All you people that took diet pills while pregnant knowingly or unknowingly need to gear that question to a health professional, fate, and time. Only those three things are going to give you peace. No one here can look inside of your personal little womb and tell you if your baby is or isn't ok. As for people with low esteems. We are all women we know the image society paints of us ,however, when you become pregnant we can no long be self center and vain about our appearance or what we look like to the people walking down the street. Lay that aside and think about the life that your body is creating whether you planned it or not. They will exist because of what you do from this point on. I struggle with my weight during this pregnancy because like some have said i was already considered fat (190). Now I'm 5mths and 212. That worries me because of complications during labor, higher risk of c-section, high blood pressure and gest. diabetes. Just try your best to eat as healthy as you can and worry about the rest later.

I agree with you; I am not over weight and I am in great shape myself. But do you have to be so harsh with people. Some people struggle with weight their whole lives; and not everyone eats garbage all the time? Some actually have genuine medical conditions and to them they look at these products as a possible solution.

Yes, you're right, some people DO have medical problems that cause them to be overweight, but it's a very small %. Just read these postings, these are women who are stressing over gaining weight while pregnant and thinking of taking diet pills. Diet pills aren't even safe when you're not pregnant. These forums are supposed to be areas for women with something in common to go for moral support and advice, but NOT medical advice. You should read some of the others where these women have missed periods, etc. and log online to ask if someone out there thinks they might be pregnant. Have they ever heard of a doctor ??? It's scary and dangerous that nonprofessionals are giving each other advice. Maybe I'm being harsh, but clearly these women aren't playing with a full deck.

Some people were also brought us with parents who taught them s_x was bad and they were never allowed to talk about it or discuss it openly. Some are low income and go to second rate schools where they are not provided with s_x education either. Not everyone grows us with good parents who want the best for their kids; and some are just unfortunate in the money area. I do agree that with the all the information out there for a young teenager to be that ignorant about s_x and contraception is unacceptable today; there is really no excuse for it as it is blasted everywhere! There is also planned parenthood and such, people worry more about getting pregnant then the high record rate of AIDS which is more scary.

I am 8 1/2 onths pregnant and was taking diet pills up until my 7th month. Before I got pregnant I was 20 pounds over weight. So far I have loss 17 pounds. At my last physical my doctor said my baby was healthy and so was I.

I have to agree with some of the other women. I would NEVER post a question on this site. I do not think anyone was asking to be called stupid or "not that bright". I came to this site because I just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant and I have been taking diet pills. I just wanted some information...now I am horrified and angry. I hope most women do ask their dr.'s because all these responses will give you is a shallow immature answer

I am not the rude Lisa... I just wanted to tell you that if you never knew you were pregnant, then it's definetely not your fault. I had been drinking pretty much the whole time my first 4 weeks as all tests were coming up negative. I had just moved half way across the world and I had thought it had put my periods off... just make sure you don't take them anymore as while they are in your body they do flush away vitamins and minerals along with the fat. You'll be fine. :o)

i can do what ever i want to do when it comes to me!!!!!!

Ella - October 20

That's right! Deb, don't listen to any of this. I truly believe that your instincts will serve you best.

Lisa - October 20

Wow...you're the one who asked if they were safe to take while you were pregnant; I only answered the question to your post. Why are you being so hostile towards me?

I am in the same boat at the moment. I have only just found out I am Pregnant, literally lastnight!!! and I can understand why this question was asked. I have been taking Hydroxycut for the last 2 weeks and I am scarred about what it could do to the baby. I decided to look on the internet to find out if I could find any information on the effects of Hydroxycut before I went to the doctor. So I don't think anyone is stupid for inquirying on a subject which is important as this is. so to all you narrow minded people, grow up there is no need to be that way. is a question and she is looking into it. so it's not as if she is ignoring it and not caring about it. There are people out there that take worse drugs and don't care at all. these are diet pills which are legal. so DON"T GET SO HARSH. GROW UP. Felicity

FYI Diet pills aren't safe whether your are pregnant or not. Stuff like excess drinking, not eating vegetables or not taking vitamins is not good health practice, regardless if you are pregnant or not. If you don't take care of yourself, you're doing yourself a disservice, not to mention one to your baby. Exercise, eat right, don't smoke, drink in moderation, then you won't need diet pills. I feel sorry for you all.

Wow - November 6

How did a simple question turn into this?? I took diet pills for the first month of pregnancy but I didn't know I was pregnant. Honestly I think alot of women do things like drink, smoke, take diet pills not knowing they are pregnant-this doesn't call for all the name calling and hostility read. Someone is geniunely asking a question from concern. When I found out I was pregnant I had the same concern and was told to stop and no harm should come to the baby. I'm glad I didn't come here first.

Lisa - November 7

There are a lot of angry women on this site...

Tess - November 7

No, they're not safe for your baby.
