For the duration of this pregnancy ( and not any previous pregnancies) I am suffering from tons of heartburn! Water gives me heartburn, one tic tac will give me heartburn. I can't even have a bite of anything without getting it. I have gone through jars of tums and bottles of mylanta! Oh so gross tasting. Anyone else experiencing this? What do you do to help it? I am 22 wks along w/ 3rd baby..and it's not a girl :) I guess the wives tale says heartburn = girl.

Have you tried drinking milk? That is the only thing that helps me. Also, try to sleep sitting up in the recliner or propped up in bed. I haven't been able to lay flat for 4 months now.

sleeping isn't really a problem, i get heartburn all day after I eat just about anything. Havn't tried maalox, when ever i try to drink that stuff my gag reflex is so great. It's hard to keep down.

Girl I feel you. I had know idea what heartburn even was until I became pregnant. It wakes me up at night and I get it all throughout the day. All iv'e been doing is chewing tums which only helps for a lil then it always comes back. I heard milk does help, but I cant stand to drink it

I've had this same problem, I've tried everything, the only thing that works is something I read out of "what to expect when you're expecting" Chew sugarless gum (not spearmint or peppermint or any kind of mint!!!!) about half an hour after a meal or anytime you feel heartburn coming on. Its supposed to absorb the acid. I dont know if its just a coincidence but I havent had heartburn since, Ive been sleeping so well!! Also, follow these guidelines to help avoid it:
Do not drink citrus juice, coffee, alcohol or carbonated drinks. Chocolate, tomatoes, spearmint, peppermint also cause it. Do not eat close to bedtime, do not lay down for a couple hours after you eat, and dont overeat, try to eat smaller more frequent meals.
