I'm 28 weeks pregnant with my second child, and for the past few weeks I've been having really bad pain in my pubic bone. It's so painful that I can't lift my legs up high enough to put my pants on in the morning -- I have to sit down to put them on. It's really painful at night when I change positions and it makes getting up to go to the bathroom really difficult. Everything including spreading my legs, walking, getting dressed, s_x, and excercise make the pain worse. I never experienced anything like this with my first pregnancy. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any advice??

Get it checked out. Your pelvis may have relaxed so much from the hormones that your pelvis split. I have heard this happening to women during pregnancy. Tell your OB next time...you will need to be placed on bedrest if that is the case. In the meantime..take it as easy as you can:)

I had this too starting at 28 weeks and it's called pelvic girdle pain. Your muscles and joints are realxed and strained to prepare you for labour, it hurt me horribly during the night but got better throughout the day, I'm 35w3d now and haent hadthe pain for about 2 weeks thankgod! maybe my body got used to the change. I never had the pain with my first 2 though. Ask your dr. too

I have been pregnant 3 times, my first time I had this type of pain around the end of the pregnancy, teamed with tail bone pain...my second I had this horrible pain/pressure feeling from 5 months on, and now with my third I have had it from the get go...I've been checked out so many times because of the discomfort it gives me sitting, squatting, peeing or having a bowel movement , even laying down...they have no answers except that I have/had a bladder infection (all 3 pregnancies!) that couldn't be treated with antibiotics....they wouldn't work.. So i have had to suffer...actually I joined this group for the exact answer your searching for...there is nothing anyone can do! It helps if you semi cross your legs while standing...But it isn't a permanent solution it just provides a littel relief.

I had this with my last two pregnancies! My doctor told me to get one of those belly belts. I haven't yet because it has kind of went away, but try it out, you can get a them at wal mart I'm sure. I know they have them at Shopper's Drug Mart

This pain is called symphisis pubis dysfunction - or can be known as diastasis of the symphisis pubis bone. This is the second time i have had it too. the first time i didnt know what it was so i just tried to ignore it, but this time i had severe early onset of this, at 17 weeks. You NEED a support belt. Seriously. there is a belt you can get from a physiotherapist or from your ob/gyn which actually holds the pelvic bone back together in place. what happens is that you have a ligament at the front of your pubic bone, which when pregnant relaxes a bit to provide an easier birth for your baby. but sometimes it relaxes too much and too early causing this immsense pain. if you wear a belt it pulls the pelvis back into the correct position and provides a large amount of relief. you can also get pain killers which help with this problem. I was like you. i was rushed into hospital with what they thought was a groin hernia. on morphine the pain was so bad. couldnt walk properly at all, and it took me 15 minutes to get to the toilet. i couldnt seperate my legs at all, my knees were together at all times because opening my legs even slightly caused the most horrendous pain. i was given a belt, which provided instant relief. I could walk - although it was still painful and difficult, it was so much better - and i could sleep. There are two types of belts you ca get, there is a spider belt - which is great for bump support but doesnt provide anyway near as much relief, and theres a pelvic girdle, which is a belt about two inches thick which is placed under your bump and around your pelvis(so on your hips) its uncomfortable , because it has to be worn so tightly, but the discomfort you recieve from wearing the belt is alot less than what you get from the problem itself. I would see your ob gyn straight away because they will need to know you have this problem before delivery - they may suggest a c section, but if you do have a natural birth, they absolutely cannot put your legs in stirrups etc. go to google and research it, as theres so much info about it now.
