Yeast Infection During First Trimester

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing some itching in the down below area. Since it's uncomfortable, I've been wearing panty liners to keep the area dry. Is it safe to use the over the counter anti yeast infeaction treatments (not oral). Also, how do I keep it from reocurring. Thanks.

In the first trimester you should check with your Dr as what can be safe to take. I know that monestat 3 or 7 day treatments are okay in the 2nd and 3rd trimester. As to what you can do to prevent it - eat yogart once a day, wear panti liners (unscented) to keep clean and dry, don't hang out in a wet bathing suite, don't wear underwear at night, cut down on sugar and yeats intake, don't use perfumed soaps down there, and don't wash your panties with perfumed detergent. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the information, Tara. I will give them a try. =)
