Hi, I am 12 weeks pregnant. I am experiencing muscle pain in my lower stomach what seems like out of know where. For example I coughed, standing up, next thing I know my lower ab muscles cramped, I'm doubled over in pain, I hold it for a second, then it dissappears. Same thing happened when I went from a sitting to standing position.
It doesn't happen often but when it does it hurts. It doesn't feel like a period cramp or anything like that, just muscle related. Does anyone else get this? Is it just my stomach muscles starting to move and accomodate room? I am thin and fit, not showing yet, so not sure that's it or not?

I've had the same thing when I cough or sneeze or if I stand up quickly! I'm 10 weeks pregnant. The first time it happenend I had some spotting (very faint pinky browny colour) slightly. I wasn't sure if it was happening because I'm feeling quite stressed and am having a hard time relaxing. It's my first pregnancy and I'm very anxious. My first appointment with a midwife isn't for another couple of weeks :( The waiting is so hard!

Jennifer,
I am 15 weeks with my first pregnancy and have the exact pain you are experiencing. Two different ob/gyn's have hold me it is completely normal. Your uterus is just expanding rapidly. I also would get these cramps while I slept and tried to rollover too quickly. I found that if I moved slower or if I knew I had to cough I would place my hand on my lower abdomen and bend forward a little for support.
