When should I get concerned about cramping? I am only 5 weeks, but have had cramps every day for 10 days now. How much is too much before I should be concerned?

My doctor's office says to drink a couple gla__ses of water and lie down for a half an hour (left side is best) to see if the cramps stop. The uterus apparently contracts as the first stage of dehydration in pregnant women?
Although it probably has innocuous causes too, I wonder if cramping can also be caused by low progesterone levels. When I started using prescribed progesterone gel, mine stopped almost right away. (Progesterone use seems to be controversial, so your ob may not agree).
I would suggest calling your health care provider. For rea__surance, maybe ask if you can have your HCG levels checked (once, then again in 48 hours). They should about double. Also maybe ask that your progesterone level be checked.
Best of luck to you-- I hope everything works out great!
