Could flying in the first trimester have an effect on the development of the fetus or cause developmental delays.

I was curious myself and called my OB/GYN's office & they said it's ok to fly (just not the last 2 weeks for fear of going into labor).

I don't know - they say that getting into an airplane is like having an Xray and that Xray's are bad for fetal developement... I would only do it if necessary... Especially if you are concerned about miscarriage or fetal abnormalities...

I dont want to scare you but I would not fly untill after 12 weeks I did twice and had 2 miscarriages first time after 3 days and 2nd time as soon as I landed.

I flew three times in my last pregnancy and it was fine each time.
