No Heartbeat Of Babay Noticed In Ultrasound

My wife is in 4 or 5th week of pregnancy. We did a ultrasound today, doctor could not feel the heartbeat. My wife has a history of delayed periods by a week to 10days. Doctor has advised to come back next week for ultrasound.
If you could be kind enough to throw more light on this topic.

I also had an ultrasound on my fifth week of pregnancy and there was also no heartbeat seen or felt. my doctor said that the heartbeat ca be felt by 6-7 weeks of pregnancy. The baby's heartbeat is the ultimate confirmation of pregnancy. Just wait... (",)

I don't know Doctors do this to us! I keep hearing over and over how us poor girlies go for an early scan only to scared half mad to find no heart beat. A private gyne told me heart beats can be seen and heard (via sonogram) at between 6-8 - sometimes later.
Don't panic all is fine.
