Welcome Karen S! How old is your first child?
I have some GREAT news for everyone! I heard the HEART BEAT this morning! There's no way the smile is coming off my face today. I have my 12 week scan next wk, but the Doctor let me hear the heart beat today! I didn't even know she could do that but she had a little hand held microphone thing in her office. It was so cool! Last couple of days, I felt a bit concerned - because I wasn't feeling sick and I had a lot more energy. I know it's easy for me to say now, but keep the positive thinking girls, less stress is good for all of us.
rpates - try not to stress - I know plenty of girls who didn't get sick at all - and have beautiful Healthy babies.
meghanlee - I may have just told my OB to "go jump" if that was me. We're all different and you've been there before - this is the most amazing journey for any girl to experience anyone who doesn't make you feel important and special during these months shouldn't be aloud to be part of such an amazing thing.
Love to you all!
I'm so excited - HEART BEAT!! WOO HOO!!

oh how precious 1stbaby&excited! I just asked my RE today when I can hear it.... I thought I read somewhere that you could hear it pretty soon....but she said I still had a few weeks to go as I am only 8w along. Gosh I cant imagine what that sounds like.... I dont blame you for not wiping that smile off your face! I think it will be quite an experience... will surely bring it all even MORE to life!
I will try! I just need to stop thinking about m/s and enjoy this...

Well, my OB's office called me at work today to tell me that all of my bloodwork came back perfect except for my glucose test. (they did an early one because my son was big when he was born and my BMI is 25.6 which means I am BARELY overweight) Anyway, my glucose came back at 148 which is higher than they wanted so they are sending me to do the 3 hour glucose test. I am really nervous now. I have talked to a few people that said they failed their one hour glucose but pa__sed the three hour with no problem. I am hoping that is the case with me.

Meghanlee-With my first baby i gained 60 lbs. which is double of what my doctor recommended so they tested me for glucose and I also had a high number. I did the three hour test to see if I had gestational diabities and it came back negative. I would not worry if I were you. I learned though, with my 2nd pregnancy I only gained 25 lbs. and both me and the baby were much healthier throughout the pregnancy and he was only 2 lbs. lighter than my first. I think you'll be fine. Keep us posted.
AFM, I went to see my baby again last night, I am 7w3d. The first time I saw the baby last week my husband and I had a little fight on our way to the doctors office but when the time came and we heard the baby's heart we both started to cry. It was amazing! Last night I took my younger son who is 10yrs. also. When he heard the heart beat his eyes opened wide and I can see that in his head the baby became real... He asked right away when is the baby coming out again? Also, the baby has a shape now and it grew a lot in a week. It made me realize we have a miracle inside of us and its a wonderful feeling to give life! Take care of yourselves everyone!

1stbaby&excited, you deserve that ma__sive smile...enjoy!
hoping4, it must be such a relief to have seen the baby twice now :)
So, ladies, I've been trying to stay not-too-attached to this pregnancy this time because it was so awful to lose the first one two years back. It was 'easy' because I've been SOOOO ill that I figured that must be a better sign.
I had my first prenatal visit at 7w6d and they did my HCG...62,000. If that was the end of it I would have been just fine with that number.
However, I'd gone 6 days before, at my MW's request, and had a draw which was 53,000.
What was sucky was that sound in the tone of her voice when she said "not doubling like we want to see".
I have an early US scheduled for Monday, so I guess we'll see then. At least I know how I still feel and the levels ARE increasing. I may be one of those ladies who peaks by 8 weeks...maybe.
Having more information is such a blessing and a curse.
I've told DH his mother needs to go back to his brother's (she's been her for 7 weeks) because if things go badly I will hardly be able to tolerate a 24/7 witness to breakdown number 2.
Anywho, will let you all know what the scene is on Monday. I'd hate to have to be the first to drop out of our little group.

hoping4baby3 - that is just awesome. I am 8 w today and I asked the RE when I can hear the hearbeat. She said my OB would be able to let me hear it in a few weeks....she didnt have the equipment.
PinkAmerican- sorry to hear about your levels, but it is great that you are getting an u/s done on MOnday...just a few days away so hang in there! The worst thing you can do right now is stress.... just TRY to take it easy... fill up your weekend with fun and easy going things to pa__s the time... and be ready for Monday!

PinkAmerican-Hang in there... I know its hard to stay positive. I had a miscarriage myself not too long ago. It's hard but its not over for you yet. As long as the numbers keep going up then there's hope. You will feel so relived to hear the heart beat on monday. Let us know... That will make you feel better. I'll pray for you!!!

Hi everyone,
I'm new to posting but not to this sight. I think I'm about 7 weeks now and definatley feel the symptoms of pregnancy. I have 2 boys, a soon to be 10 year old and a 5 month old. To say the least I was shocked to find out I was pregnant again as it took me 8 years to get pregnant with my 2nd son. Once the initial shock went away I am really excited now.
I have my first Dr. Appt 6/19 and will have an ultrasound to find out how far along I am since I can't really remember my LMP. Congrats to everyone!!!!!

Hi ladies,
Thanks for the well wishes. I did just chill over the weekend...as much as I could given the non-stop nausea.
Went to the ultrasound today and right off saw the little shrimp. It was as big as it should be for my dates (9wk 2days thereabouts) and had a heartbeat of 171. They said no more HCG draws and I should breathe a sigh of relief.
Apparently I'll be able to take a second breath around 13 weeks so long as nothing new comes up.
They also noted the cord positioning which showed the placenta was attached high and to the right.
Only down note was a 5.5cm cyst on my right ovary. Had the same darn thing last time (got to 6cm even with a blighted ovum). They'll be watching that over the next few weeks. Hopefully it starts resolving itself.
Oh, and welcome to the newest Jan 2010 soon-to-be-mommies.
Today's a good day.

Very nice PinkAmerican! So nice that you got to see the heartbeat measurement... did you also get to hear it? or not yet?
Do you take any meds to help shrink the cysts? Or are they expected to shrink on their own?
I go to my first OB visit on Monday. The RE clinic did not have the tools to allow me to hear the heartbeat...

Hey ladies!!
So I wemt to my second ultrasound yesterday and my baby was bigger I was 10w3d and the baby measure at 11 weeks. So about 4 days difference. I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time which was 186. Last month we could just see it in the ultrasound but not hear it. It was 124 at that time. Im still nervous to tell people though. THe baby was kicking and punching like crazy! My mom has 8 kids and she says its a boy because they always move around a lot on the ultrasounds. She says girls just chill. LOL.
GOod luck everyone! Good luck on Monday Rpats. Everything will be ok!

tina3323 If that's true then we would guess I'm having a boy too then.....
Guess what everyone :
I had my 12 week scan yesterday. There were sommersalts and tummbles and turns - my baby did not stay still the whole time. The scan lady kept commenting how active my baby is....We could see arms and legs and an "alein" looking face. It still amazes me how something so small could have all it's organs and it's limbs and everything it needs. I can't stop looking at the pictures. She said the heart beat was 151 (that's a bit lower number than any of your numbers.....?) And we didn't listen to heart beat - "bummer" I forgot to even ask cause I've heard it last wk, but my husband hasn't heard it..
I felt like it was taking so long to get to this stage. It's just an amazing feeling. So Hang in there everyone.....!!
I'm due 2nd Jan - I am leading the way here with our group????

I agree.... everyone always says how childbearth is a miracle... and I have to say I didnt truly grasp just how much of a miracle it was until now... to know that there is a live baby growing inside of my tummy... wow. just amazing

Hello Ladies!
I had my first ultrasound today. I found out that I am 10 weeks and 1 day. My due date is January 13th. That is about two days different from what I had calculated frommy period. We got to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. His/Her heartbeat was 162 bpm. From the heartbeat I am thinking it is a boy...but of course the heartbeat thing is an old wive's tale....but turned out true with my son. :) The baby seemed to be taking a bit of a nap during the scan and was just laying around but the heartbeat was strong and healthy! :) Seeing and hearing that made me feel a million times better and made the whole thing more exciting and more real!
How is everyone else doing? Some of us are getting really close to the second trimester! :)
