c2beaudoin - December 22

Well everyone, the pregnancy has kicked in lol. Morning sickness started yesterday and is worse today, no throwing up but just a sickly feeling all day, ugh. Also really tired, I have been going to bed at 8pm lol if not sooner. It's hard to focus at work, but today is my last day then I will have 5 days off but it will hardly be time off since there is so much going on with family. We told our families already, my husband was so excited he couldn't keep it a secret but it will be our first time seeing our extended family since the announcement so I'm sure well get lots of congrats! My husband and I are both the oldests of our families so this will be the first grandchild so it's pretty exciting. Anyway I thought to myself wow maybe I will be lucky and have no morning sickness but I was wrong lol. The end result will be well worth it. My first visit with my midwife is on Jan 6th, I will be 8 weeks by then, can't wait to talk about what's going to happen :) But I better get back to work, not that it's busy, not many people buying kitchens this close to christmas haha. Cheers!

Pearl - December 22

So hoping4bpf...How did it go? Sorry about the morning sickness c2beaudoin. I don't really have much. It's a lot easier than my first! I make it a point to eat breakfast as soon as I get to work so that's helping a lot! Both my husband and I are the oldest in our families too so we had the first grandchild as well. Every grandchild is a huge deal with our sets of parents. lol My husband and I are going to sit down with the kids tomorrow evening and tell them what is going on. We bought pacifiers and we are going wrap them and give each kid one to open. We are going to explain to them that we want them to hold onto these "gifts" until August and then give them to someone special. I think they will be thrilled. ALL of them have been asking for another baby. We are getting together with my family on Christmas Eve so they will be opening their gifts with a newborn sized diaper tucked inside. They don't talk to my in-laws much (different cities) so I know they won't tell anyone. Then Xmas morning we are going to see my husband's family so they will know. I can't wait! Felt really moody yesterday. I was kind of short with my husband...He got over it right away. lol We have been through this before. Other than that, feeling GREAT! Have a nice evening ladies!

Hey ladies! thanks for remembering appointment went well, the ultrasound only showed the sac which the doc was surprised was even there as I am only 5 weeks. she told us "if i dont find anything do not be alarmed as it is very early still" she also told me my cramping was normal and a lot of women feel it as it is just the cervix stretching. my next appointment is Jan 14th for my 8 week ultrasound hope you are all doing well p.s i have a feeling my morning sickness will be here sooner than later :(

Pearl - December 23

Well ladies, tonight is the night that we tell the kids. I'm sure they will be super excited. Tomorrow I tell my mom and dad. My mom and I don't have a great relationship so I am curious to see how this will unfold. In recent years she has been making some choices that frankly disgust me and I have not kept my feeling quiet. I am hoping she doesn't mind putting that aside for one night. It took me 3 tries (rejected all 3 times) to get Christmas plans made with her and it finally happened ONLY after my husband contacted my dad and skipped my mom completely. I am pretty nervous about telling my mom. My sister and her wife (no, not a mistake-her wife) will be super happy for us and so will my dad. I can't believe it's already almost Christmas! Got a bottle of Kahlua from a coworker for Christmas today. lol I guess that's going on the shelf for a while. No real symptoms today. I feel great. I have been keeping small snacks around so that I don't feel sick. I have been drinking PLENTY of water throughout the day. I have a question for you ladies. Do you still have little bad habits you are finding it hard to give up? I get up for work at 3am and any mother knows that it's not easy to get into bed early. I have my morning cup of coffee when I get to work. Any of you ladies finding it hard to give something up?

lilly74 - December 24

WOOOT!!! I am also excpecting in august:) I believe the 23 or 24th which is the same day as my brothers B-day!! lol he would really love that.

tritty - December 26

Hi Ladies! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was great! I haven't been on here in ages because I got 4 glorious days off of work and our home computer is in the repair shop. So, I've been MIA :) C2beaudoin- sorry to hear that you're feeling sick. that's a bummer. just remember it only lasts for a period of time. make sure you fill us in on your visit with the midwife! also, what made you decide to use a midwife? just curious! Hoping- glad to know things went well for you. i'm sure after your next appointment you'll feel so much relief to actually see your little one. just hang in there and keep up the good att_tude! Pearl- I'm dieing to know how things went for you! How did the kids take the news? And how did it go when you told the family? I totally understand not being thrilled about telling part of your family. For us, it's my mother in law. She just went off the deep end this past year and we haven't even really spoken to her in months. She only lives 5 minutes from us and she never wants to see Kate. It's terrible BUT we were good and went over there on Christmas day and we told them the news. They just said "oooh." LOL! No congrats or that's great or horray. Just, OH. haha. on the other hand, my family was thrilled! We got too excited on Christmas eve and we couldn't wait until Christmas day. The kids usually open a present Christmas eve anyhow so we let them and I gave our daughter a gift from us but had her open it on my mom's lap. It was a pair of pants, a sweater and then her shirt that said "Big Sister." My mom did a triple take at the shirt before lifting it out of the box and then under the shirt we had a picture frame with the ultrasound and a it said "coming August 2010." She just shouted out "THEY'RE PREGNANT!" and everyone was so excited! I told you guys that I was dreading telling my big sister about the pregnacy but we went ahead and told her Christmas eve. She was really excited for us but her husband wasn't so thrilled. They started whispering to eachother (we were on skype) and a minute later she says, "sorry to rain on your parade but we have the same news!" I about fell over dead! SHE IS PREGNANT TOO. The best part is that her due date is August 10th and I'm August 1st!!!! I'm SOOOOO excited! My husband and I didn't do a lot of gifts this year but I have to admit that this has been one of the best Christmas's ever just because of the good news! So everyone, fill me in on how you broke the news!!!!

lynzelou - December 27

Hi ladies! I'm a newbie to this group and I will be 8 weeks tomorrow with a due date of August 9th! This is my first child and my husband and I are beyond thrilled. So far I've been feeling okay. Of course I have the sore b___sts, occasional cramping, some food cravings/dislikes, and the occasional queasiness. I had an ultrasound on Wed the 16th where we saw the heartbeat. The doctor did comment that there was some fluid and they were not sure if it was blood or not but he said he was not concerned so I decided not to freak out. Well, I get a call on Monday saying that another doctor looked at the ultrasound pictures and determined that the fluid is actually a subchorionic hematoma (blood clot). Time to freak out? I haven't had any spotting or bleeding and my doctor's office didn't seem to act like it was a big deal, but when I look this stuff up on the internet it sounds kinda scary. I'm trying to stay positive and go with the thought "no news is good news". I did have to get the Rhogam shot because I happen to be O- and my husband O+. I really hope everything is okay. I cannot wait for my next appointment! I hope all is well with you ladies! Happy New Year!

Pearl - December 27

Hey lynzelou welcome. I wouldn't worry too much. If your doctor isn't concerned then maybe it's minor compared to what you read on the internet? If you are worried, get a second opinion. The kids were really excited! They each unwrapped one gift on the 23rd. There were 2 packages of pacifiers and one package of newborn diapers. I explained to them that they are going to want to hold onto these to give away this summer as a welcome gift. Then they spent about 2-3 minutes solving the mystery. My oldest asked if this had anything to do with the special vitamins she saw in my bathroom. I told her yes and they all jumped up and down with excitement. It was cute. We wrapped a small diaper in all of the gifts. My parents were the first to open theirs and were both a__suming it meant new baby but didn't really say anything. Then my husband asked "What size is that diaper?" and everyone was super excited. Luckily there were no awkward moments with my mom and things went really smoothly. At my in-laws it was a little more intense. Both my SIL and MIL started crying. They were both so excited and said that with all of the boys, I HAD to have another girl. lol My MIL is taking the little diapers to work and showing off her favorite Christmas gift! It was pretty awesome. My MIL got us all new sleeping bags. After she had opened her gift she asked if we were still going to go camping and spend time at the cabin this summer (be pregnant). I laughed. Of course we are. She was worried that the gifts wouldn't get used this year but they will. Overall it's just nice to not be keeping any secrets from anyone anymore. It was a great idea to hold onto the information for a Christmas surprise as well. Best Xmas ever. How is everyone doing today? I am feeling alright. My husband made breakfast this morning and the smell of it cooking made me sick but other than that I have been doing pretty well. Not much sickness lately. Things are pretty relaxed so far. I am definitely showing now. I have a little hard, round belly and I can't wear my belt anymore. It hurts when I sit down if I wear it. I have been rolling the top of my jeans down below my belly to keep them up. I know that after I hit the 12 week mark the lower stomach area should all raise up and the pants should be fine to wear again. It's just the initial swelling that gets me low, then it moves upward.

Strange how fast things can turn around. I just posted about 5 hours ago feeling great...Now things are a little different. After I posted I took a nap with my 2 year old. We slept for about two hours. When I woke up I went to the bathroom and I was covered in red blood. I just sat there for a minute not knowing what to think. I talked to my husband and we both agreed that if something was going to go wrong with the baby, better now than weeks from now. For about the last hour or so I have been getting progressively worse back pain and cramping. The bleeding has gotten heavier and there is a trace of tissue. I am going to go see my doctor in the morning but I am doubtful that there is anything they will be able to do. They will probably just draw blood and check the levels. I am betting that it's too late. I am trying to positive about this. I am glad that it's happening early although I wish it wasn't happening at all. My husband and I were undecided on a fourth when we found out I was pregnant so I guess this gives a little more time to talk about it. I know there are a lot of things that may be causing the bleeding and that a miscarriage isn't the only conclusion but I am pretty sure that's what is going on. My little round bump is slowly going down as well. Not a good sign. After I see the doctor tomorrow I will let you ladies know what is going on. I am pretty disappointed right now... Such is life.

Pearl: I am so so sorry. Please stay positive and keep us posted, update us when you know ANYTHING not much to report here. no new symptoms, sore b___sts and tired all the time. I am 6 weeks now, scared for MS to hit

Pearl - December 28

I called my docs office and spoke with a nurse. She said that at this moment there is nothing to worry about. She said that if I am starting to miscarry there is really nothing that can be done. I had a bright red (light flow that tapered off to spotting with a very slight amount of tissue) blood flow for about 5 hours yesterday afternoon/evening. It has since stopped. The nurse said that for now I should just take it easy and relax. She said that it's not uncommon to have some sort of blood at 4, 8 and even 12 weeks due to the hormonal changes that are taking place. I am on vacation from work until the 4th so I am just going to lounge around for the day and hope that the baby is OK. She said that I can come in for another US but that my insurance probably won't cover another one until next month. Plus they really won't be able to stop anything if something is going wrong. My husband and I talked about it and if something is going wrong, we will deal with it. I am hoping that for some reason my scar from the c-sections is acting up or that the IUD scratched my uterus during expulsion and it's just healing. So far today there is no blood flow or spotting. I had some lower back pain and cramping last night for about two hours but nothing since then. I am hopeful.

Pearl, my heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry to hear about this news! Please let us know what's going on after you've been the doctor. I agree with you though. If the same were to happen to me I'd prefer it be now instead of weeks or months from now! I wish you would have went to the ER instead of waiting until morning. There is medication they can put you on to help prevent losing the baby. I'm praying for peace for you and your family right now! Today is the day that I tackle my "diet." It's not really a diet because I'm prego but I have to really watch what I eat, so to me, that'a diet. My doctor already wants to do an early diabetes test because of my weight and i really want things to be under control so i'm cutting all carbs. that's going to be hard for me though because sometimes when i feel sick the only thing that settles my stomach is bread or crackers or all the stuff i can't have. i'll keep you posted on how that goes. other than that i'm feeling pretty good. a little sick this morning but nothing i can't manage. hope everyone has a good day!

tritty - December 28

Pearl, we must have been writing at the same time because you hadn't posted your update when i wrote my last little bit there. I guess you just beat me to the punch :) Well, it's good to hear that you're staying strong and hopeful! You're right that there are many reasons why you could have had some bleeding. Believe me, I've had so much spotting that it's insane and everything is still ok with the little one. So hang in there and rest up! Obviously, keep us posted as you learn more!

c2beaudoin - December 28

Well christmas was ridiculously chaotic... I feel so exhausted and I am already back at work, only for 2 days at least lol. We received lots of congrats from everyone, it feels weird when it's happening to you lol. Tritty- I decided to go with a midwife because I feel more comfortable putting my trust in them. They only deal with pregnancies and babies, it's their specialty. My friend at work had a midwife for her first child and now for her second and she swears by them. I'm not having a home birth though, I'm still going to have a birth room at the hospital but it's with my midwife instead of a doctor. Basically I don't need to see a doctor at all, my midwife is with me the whole way and after, they do all the same tests as a doctor would and give you much more information. It's covered by my heatlhcare so I don't have to pay extra for it. My husband and I are pretty anxious to finally talk about the baby and hear the heartbeat :)
