Hello all, I have been reading your forums as I am in a similar situation. I've had a mc before and this is my second time pregnant. I am about 6 weeks along, my hCG levels didn't double and have only increased slightly and in 48hours my progesterone level went down a couple of points. My doctor says this isn't good and I am so very worried as its hard to undergo a mc, I know from my first experience. However, this time I have slight cramping and my b___sts are tender, no bleeding...its nothing like the first time. My doctor is sending me for an 'us' on the 17th and I don't know what she might prescribe after that. Have any of you gone through a similar situation and have gone ahead to have healthy babies? Please comment I need to hear some positive replies as all I get from the internet is bad news.....I'd appreciate any response....thanks.

Hi everyone! I just joined this forum and wanted to pa__s on an encouraging experience. I had a m/c in March of this year at just under 9 wks. DH and I conceived on the first try after. I started spotting at 6 weeks (it was 7 wks with the m/c). My hcg was at 42,000! wow! but, my progesterone was only at 12 (on the low side of normal). I have been taking 300mg progesterone suppository daily and I am 10 weeks today. It has been almost four weeks since I spotted. We got to see the baby move and kick on the ultrasound last week. Heart rate at 171. and it measured within a day of it's actual age. My progesterone has been running between 22 and 29 without the supplement. My doctor wants me to continue it until week 14 and then rea__sess. I am feeling very pregnant (in all the good, miserable ways). I am beginning to believe that this little, white pill (or big freaking suppository) is the "miracle pill" I've read so much about. It can't hurt in early pregnancy and it's certainly worth a try. Good luck, baby dust, and best wishes to all of you!

preggirl: check out my other post. also remember, progesterone is released into your body in surges. there are natural peaks and valleys. Mine has gone up down up down, but with a general trend of going up. ask about the progesterone. some docs don't believe in it, but there are so many studies showing major benefits! and, it can't hurt! Good luck to you!

Hi All - I'm in exactly the same position as some of you ladies. I'm now 6 weeks pregnant. The first time my blood was taken, my Progesterone level was at 13...the second time, it went down to 12 ! my doctor just put me on the suppositories last night. I'm still super nervous. As for symptoms of pregnancy -i'm having cramps daily, much like menstrual cramps. They arent sharp pains, but i definitely dont feel very comfortable. no nausea yet either - that makes me nervous because its my understanding the more sick you are, the healthier the baby. I have my first "OB" appt today. i'm nervous yet excited. I am curious as to how many of you women (in this forum), miscarried with the symptoms described, and how many of you actually gave birth successfully. All input is welcome. thanks!!!! - Michelle

Levmicmar: As an update to my previous thread, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy just over one year ago. I ended up needing the progesterone throughout the pregnancy and am convinced that was the cause of my m/c before. As I said in my previous post, I had started to spot and have similar m/c sypmtoms with this pregnancy. It took several days for those to resolve once I started the progesterone. Keep your chin up....and your feet. Try to rest and relax (I know, so much easier said than done). I remember vividly the feelings of combined fear and joy. Try to stay positive and take it one day at a time. Remember, some lucky women never have the yucky symptoms of pregnancy... Mine were different with both of my live births and with the m/c. Good luck and baby dust!!!

Pianogrl: thank you so much for responding. I'm new to this website so i didnt see all the other posts. I'm trying to stay positive & I just keep praying that the suppositories work. Its only my first day & I'm still having the same cramps. Hopefully they go away. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again!! :)

Another thing to remember is that cramping in the first trimester is normal. Implantation cramping can continue for weeks (as it did with this last pregnancy for me). The implantaion process continues throughout the pregnancy as the placenta continues to grow and migrate. I had mild cramps every time I coughed, stretched, etc... abdominally for a good portion of the pregnancy. Then, as your belly grows, your tendons will stretch and may cause similar sensations. I think the spotting blood was a big red flag for me, but cramping with no other complications to date may just be your baby settling in! I'll be thinking of you. I hope your appointment goes well and you receive good news. Have they done an ultrasound yet?

no ultrasound just yet. I think I'm going to 'beg' them to do one today. I'm way too stressed out and seeing that the baby has settled in properly will make all the difference. as for the cramping, yeah, the doc isnt making a big deal about it at all. They said the same thing you just did. Also, what i didnt mention was that just a few months ago, i had a 1 FOOT dermoid cyst removed from my left ovary, leaving me with only one ovary. Its a miracle i'm even pregnant, so you can see why i'm stressing so bad. i will let you know how the appointment goes. my appointment is in an HOUR! :)

I totally understand why you're stressing. And, I know it's hard not to. Of course, that's just a sign that you'll make a good mommy. If you weren't stressed, that would be concerning! :-) I'd be surprised if they don't do an ultrasound. Especially since it's sounds like they're on top of things if they already started progesterone. Another thing to remember, if they see a heartbeat, your odds of misscarrying are less than 10%!! Definitely keep me posted!

just returned from doctor visit - the doc says that all my symptoms are completely normal. I forgot to add dizziness to the mix. As for the progesterone, he said he is not concerned at all and says that the cramps should go away within a week, if not sooner. As for ultra sound, my insurance will not cover 'early' ultra sounds, but he said he recommends i pay the $250 and get it done. My ultra sound appt is on Tues! Cant wait.

Oh good! I'm glad it was a good appointment! Sounds like things are looking more positive now. Keep me posted about your ultrasound and if you have any other changes. Hope I can help if you do! :-) Now, go get some relax time!

I just wanted to update you. I've been using the progesterone supplement for over a week now. i went back and gave my blood, and it looks like my levels are still LOW :( they want me to double my dosage starting tonight. I'm pretty stressed out, and i've been trying to look up causes for low progesterone. I guess the only one i can really relate to is stress, as i work in a high stress work environment... but aside from that, there shouldnt be any issues. I'm still cramping here and there, and that is worrying me for sure. Im officially in week 7. I did have an early ultra sound and saw the baby's heartbeat! it was perfect. This makes things even more difficult for me, as i've begun to feel that attachment kick in. Prayers always welcome. Thanks!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! I'm glad you got to see the heartbeat! Hopefully everything is still going well! At this stage, it's really hard to get too much progesterone, so doubling up can't hurt anything. I know it's hard to lower your stress level any time especially a time like this. I don't know what your resources are, but may I suggest a prenatal ma__sage? Make sure it's a therapist licensed specifically in prenatal. Might help with the stress levels. I had one every other week the whole way through my pregnancy. I know the cramps are disconcerting, but I really did have them almost the whole pregnancy... I guess everybody's tendons and muscles react differently. Hang in there! Hope you're doing well!
