I was 2-3 weeks pregnant and started to have minor cramping, and was told to take it easy. Then I started to bleed/spot, and the cramps got worse. I went to the hospital and they told me I was having a miscarriage. Not to scare you but if the cramps get worse you should go to the hospital. My cramps hurt like hell!!! I wanted to die! I guess it wasn't meant to be. We started trying 2 weeks later and I am now pregnant again and feel great! NO CRAMPS. Good luck to you and hope all goes well. If not, well you can always try again right?

I jsut visited my doctor yesterday, and he said that it's fairly normal. Something about cysts developing on the ovaries in early pregnancy, and the pain could last for another month or two. Talk to your doctor and see what he thinks. Otherwise, just live your everyday normal life. Good luck!

I dont agree with the cyst explanation, I'd get another opinion from a DR - but I've read many times over that phantom cramping is a normal occurence in early pregnany - as the uterus is enlarging and preparing for pregnancy.

I am 5 weeks- I asked the nurse at my OB's office and she said it is totally normal. The feeling for me is like a "poking" its intermittant, and is occuring less as the days go by. If the cramping gets really strong, perhaps more like a menstrual cramp, call your OB office.

I definitely had cramping in the first few weeks of my pregnancy. I, too, was told it is comletely normal. As long as the cramps are relatively mild and unaccompanied by brown or red bleeding, you're probably fine. Your uterus is adjusting to a major change. The link pasted below really helped ease my mind during those first few weeks:

check it out.
Also, in regard to the "cysts" comment, the doc was likely referring to the corpus luteum cysts, which does develop on the ovary which ovulated the fertilized egg in a pregnant woman. And, yes, it can cause discomfort and cramping sensations.
