i have now taken so many tests i have lost count first few were completely negative but last 4 tests have very faint line in them. it came up an hour after doing tests but it is blue not clear. it is visable at a glimpse and even took them apart and line is definately there am i pregnant or not i feel like i am going mad. i have had two children and had similar problems with first one. didn't get a clear result till 10 weeks. could it be my hormones don't rise well or is it coz i'm constantly on toilet and urine isn't concentrated enough to detect it. i am convinced i am pregnant b___bs hurt need for loo loads. feel sick dizziness and i am putting on weight. i have a stomach which i normally have not a bump in sight. what is going on??? got doctors tomorrow maybe she can shed some light

well just got back from doctor and she says negative so guess i'm not despite the blue lines appearing after an hour so guess you can get evaporation lines but for something thats meant to be rare four in a row is wierd.

Hi, just reading a topic about evaporation lines. Well the other night i took a FR test and it showed a faint fain second within the time frame. I got my AF but very light. i took a claer blue test and withihn the 10 minutes nothing as i was in a hurry and didn't look at it properly! I checked about 25 minutes later and a line appeared. Its blue and about a hair line in thickness. It got darker after 20 minutes after that. Do u think i am pregnant? LAos the FR test faint line disapeared after 30 minutes and the clearblue line is till here after 30 hours of doing it? Any thouhgt?

haha I find it funny that people are still replying saying "oh congrats you are pregnant" AFTER she wrote back saying she went to the doc and had it confirmed that she is NOT pregnant.

I have done my fair share of pregnancy tests this month. I testes 2 days a go and again...negative. I fell pregnant as i have been down this road before. Today i tested again, as AF was actually expected this morning and i got a very faint second line. I am not getting to excited but i will try again in 2 days. I used First response every time. The second line came up around the same as the strong first line.

if the faint line came up around the same time as the strong line..that means you are pregnant! an evaporation line won't show up for awhile afterwards. I also had a faint line with my 1st test and wasn't sure to believe it or not..but I took another one about a week later and the line was much darker. If it shows up faint right away then the horomones just aren't as strong yet. Take another test in a few days and do it in the morning. morning pee has the most horomones

I got this from a great website, however do u not think it is contradicting itself? Evaporation ("evap") lines result with the test's antibody strip just looks slightly different than the space around it. There is a line of antibodies (usually made from mouse cells) in the Control and Test section. The Control line binds with any liquid and turns pink (or blue, in tests using blue dye.) The Test/Result line turns pink only if pregnancy hormone is detected. If not, the moisture pa__ses over this strip and does not turn pink. It may, however, become more visible when the light hits the moisture on the strip-- it may appear gray, colorless, like a "dent" in the test, or like a "ghost line." It may appear at any time-- as soon as the urine hits it, after a few minutes as the test absorbs the moisture, or after the 10-minute time limit. It may appear when the test is drying, or after it has dried. It may disappear as the test is drying, or after the test has dried, or not disappear at all. The simple fact is that there is always "something there" that is slightly visible-- it's simply the antibodies on the test that would turn pink in the presence of hCG. When the test becomes wet, or as it dries, or after it dries, the antibody strip may become more visible. Therefore, all tests may have them. It is not a defect; it's just how tests are made. A real positive is identified by its color (pink or blue, whatever the color of the test's dye is) and its appearance within 10 minutes of urinating on the stick. A line that appears after 10 minutes, regardless of color, must be considered an evap line and is caused by the test's chemicals changing. HPT's are rapid a__say diagnostics, which means any results appearing after the "rapid" time limit of 10 minutes are invalid. Now, its says that a Pink/blue colur that is detected meaning pregnant! then it says if a colur is detected after the 10 minute mark, consider it evap line. It just said it would be colurless ect is is was a evap and the said if it is after 10 minutes with colur it is a evap also. Hello, any1 there that can explain this bull****

I have two kids and I have had evaporation lines many times and thought I might be pregnant. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't.

Sadey - September 28

Hi Ann, just read your post there. does that mean u were pregnant and still getting evap lines. didn't really understand.

Oh Brother! - September 28

Go to www.peeonastick. That lady has tested them and talks about evaporation lines! Why give peoplefalse hope. Geez!

Ann - September 28

You will just have to wait and see. With my experience, I get evap lines all the time. Especially when I look at the test an hour later.

Kate - September 28

Ok...I know loads of people say that when reading the test an hour afterwards, if there's any kind of a line it means you're pregnant. But it just doesn't work like that! Evaporation lines DO exist, and while sometimes women read tests late and it turns out they are pregnant, there are an equal number of women who take false hope from reading tests after the time limit, and it turns out they're not pregnant. So wouldn't it be easier to wait until your HCG levels are high enough to give a positive result within the time limit, so you know for definite that what you're seeing is a positive result and not just an evaporation line? And if you're not confident, see your doctor!

Ann - September 28

I only got evap lines when I was not pregnant. It did give me false hope. When I was pregnant, I got a faint line within ten minutes.

I took 2 tests in the last two days. Last night I took one and there was an Exxxxxxxxttttrrrrreeeeeeeeeemmmmmmmeeeely faint line...wasn't sure it was even there...couldn't see if it had a color or not. Had to tilt the test a couple times in my hand and hold it real close to my face in order to get it into focus. My husband said he didn't see anything...then said he thought he might be seeing what I was seeing. Took the test apart to get a better view. Same thing...extremely faint. Not sure it was even there. This morning it is certainly there. Still faint, but there...and pink. I took another one this morning (first urine) and it is definately negative. This kind of makes me believe in evaporation lines... or in the invalidity of a test after the alloted time. I'll test again in a few days, but nonetheless just because you have never experienced an "evaporation line" doesn't mean they don't exsist. And how can people push aside the evidence that a MAN got a faint line too? I'll post again when I retest. And if I'm not pregnant...then what will people think about this whole "evaporation line" thing?
