Thank you, N, for managing to write something here based on common sense and fact, instead of the witchhunt-like, panicky reactions of some of the people on this thread. Not to mention the few people to the other extreme who say they will continue to smoke every day because there is no evidence it will do any harm. I agree with the woman earlier in the thread who said she is glad to live in Europe where laws are more sensible, I think if I lived in America I would kill myself, with the extremely narrow views a lot of people seem to have, hardly anyone seems to be able to think for themselves, or question anything their government tells them.

Hi i have been a very regular MJ user since i was about 19 and am now 32 and 7 weeks pregnant. I smoked alot in those first 4 weeks until i found out and then quit. ive not had a drink at all but because my partner is still smoking - outside and away from me while he tries to wan himself off - i have had the odd small puff id estimate 8 puffs in the last 3 weeks. it wasnt for nausea. Its just habit and i felt guilty each time. since doing some research ive had none in the last few days and after today and all the reading ive done on the internet i will not have anymore. im a teacher too and i will be encoraging my partner to quit tonight. i terach kids with learning difficulties and im scared the little ive had may have had effect or what i had in the first few weeks. i lied to my midwife when she asked me yesterday. i even had a night out this year in May and had a tab of X and smoked some meth and that scares me too. Im hoping and praying ive quit in time and that the last 7 weeks have not affected my baby. i dont drink much thank goodness. good luck Crystal..no more more for me babe.

I know someone who is smoking mj and ican't believe it. I had a stillborn at 36 weeks of pregnancy. I tried everything I knew how to help my child grow strong, but he had a disease that couldn't be helped. I am so sickened to see people knowingly and willingly hurting their children while I struggled to keep mine alive. I am still hurting over this and don't understand why a mother who loves her child and would never harm him, loses him while others who could care less get to see their children grow. I wish you pregnant ladies would realize what a preciouse gift of life you have inside of you. Please try and refrain from doing anything that may possibly harm you baby.

I have a daughter who is 3 years and I smoked marijuana and haeavily smoked cigaretts until I was 5 1/2 months and my daughter is extremly healthy,vibrant,energetic,and smart. she is very advanced since the day I first held her so advanced that she has been in preschool since 2 years old and before her first year of school was over, her school asked if they could move her up a grade!! she has always been a year more advanced then kids her own age. She still surprises every one every day. I think you should follow your insticts and everything will work out great. Besides, most physical,emotional,and mental defects are caused by genetics!!!!!!!!!!!

You are out of your mind I have smoked marijuana for 17 years(heavily). I smoked my entire four years of high school and stlill graduated top of my cla__s with several acheivement awards. I make a living mostly from my memory skills. I also smoked until I was almost six months pregnant and my active 3 year old daughter is almost smarter than me. I dont think you should be pa__sing around information that you know nothing about!

The same thing I said to the last three readers who are giving advice that doesn't have a clue what they are talking about! I have smoked for 17 years(heavily). I'm extremly smart(graduated top of my high school cla__s) My 3 year old daughter is very active and has been in school sine she was 2 years old(already asked to be moved up a grade) Most birth defects while in uetero or out of uetero are caused by genetics. You should do you research!!

If you have a 3 year old that is "almost smarter than you", than you must be freaking IDIOT. I feel sorry for you, mostly because of your att_tude. My cousin is also at the top of her cla__s. Your girl has been on this earth for 3 short years. What if this is her maximum? What if her learning slows and you find out she isn't at the top her of cla__s and falls behind each year? Are you going to take any responsibility for your actions? I think children should be able to sue their parents, for f-cking up their lives through drugs and alcohol.

I am so sick of reading responses from high and mighty judgemental people. Crystal asked a question, and should not be criticized or judged due to it. If you have something to say, your opinion can be stated without insulting her! First of all, many of you say that you shouldn't smoke it because it's illegal. The reasons behind marijuana being illegal are ridiculous. Cigarettes are legal and alcohol are legal and the effects of these two drugs are hundreds of times worse than those of marijuana! I have smoked weed for the last 6 years on a regular basis, and I am a functioning adult! Some of y'all say that weed makes people stupid, or morons, and that is not true. I am about to graduate from college with a 3.9 gpa, and I've worked full time throughout my educational career...am i a moron? NO! I am now 40 weeks prego, and a non-smoker at least until I am done b___st feeding. I only quit smoking because it was making me feel even more tired than i already do. I have at least five different friends who smoked throughout their entire pregnancies and their children are 100% fine. They are now beautiful, intelligent little boys and girls that show no signs of learning or developmental disabilities. I'm not saying that weed could never hurt a baby, but in the many cases that I have seen, it has not! I know one women who has been pregnant four times, and the first three pregnancies ended in a miscarriage in the first trimester ( she quit smoking weed in all three), finally with the most recent pregnancy she continued to smoke every day and she actually carried to full term and now has a beautiful, healthy little boy. Who knows if it's the weed, but obviously it didn't do any harm! As I said before I chose to quit smoking weed as soon as I found out I was pregnant ( around 4-5 weeks), but about a month ago I had a very close friend who died. At first all I could do was cry. I couldn't sleep, or eat, and I knew that it was taking a toll on my child. My baby doesn't move at all when I cry, and I was a mess! I decided to smoke once a day for about a week just to allow my self to rest, eat and not cry. It worked wonders for me! Guess what? I didn't go into labor early, in fact i'm now past my due date. And, my child's birth weight is not low, they say she's over 8 lb. Those are the only real effects that I've heard about, and neither one is true! The only negative thing that I worry about is that they did test my urine. If they would have tested it at any other point in the pregnancy it would have been negative. But they tested it a week after my friend died, and it showed up positive for marijuana, and the doctor says that CPS MIGHT try and take my baby away. I don't think this will happen because I have never had any reported drug problems in the past, and my home is a happy and stable home, just waiting for my daughter to come home. But now I do have to worry every day about whether CPS will try and take my daughter at birth or not. I think I will be investigated, and if anything they will continue to take my urine, but they have no grounds to take her on. So, if u are going to smoke weed, don't do it too often, and be sure that you stop in the last tri-mester if your hospital tests urine!

99% of mankind is better than the self-proclaimed heavy smokers (LSH), while pregnant. High and mighty? You betcha! I am proud of it. If you find anything wrong with being a heavy drug user and heavy smoker while pregnant, you must have a reason. Don't be so timid about it. You know d__n well its wrong to use the way she describes. I hope her child is okay but it would not surprise me if her learning slows as she ages. You don't usually see problems in children, a__sociated with the mother being a heavy drug user, until a child is a bit older. I am sure she has to get high to drown out the reality of what she is doing.

Look at how many times she wrote the same thing! She claims to have a great memory but cannot seem to keep track of how many times she posts the same information. I think she is certifiable.

jen ur sitting there saying that ur sick of hearing us high and mighty people try to justify reason why u shouldnt do drugs will ur pregnant, look at urself u say that cps my take ur child away because they did a urine test and found mj in ur system isnt that enough for people to stop doing mj well there pregnant NO! because people are so d__n ignorant why the hell would u people put ur childs safety at risk like thati just dont understand it, my sister in law smoked all through her pregnancy and know her son has a whole in his heart u know how much it breaks my heart everytime i see my nephew to know that hes sick cause of his mother i dont understand u guys that try to justify that smoking mj wont do harm

people need to take a mental test before having babies! anyone who chooses to abuse their babies before they're born should have their babies taken away

I said that you high and mighty people should not be coming at the girl like that, she only asked a question. I did not say that you are wrong to say that someone should not use drugs while being pregnant. I DID NOT SAY THAT. What I said is that you should answer the questions, and not insult people. Do you really think that anyone is going to listen to what you have to say when you are saying it in insults? NO, just answer the question and she'll be much more likely to listen. That's the problem witha lot of people today they don't know how to give advice without being rude! Trashy people? Do you even know me? No, you don't. I am far from trashy!
