Marijuana And Pregnancy

those cancer patients are also suffereing from nausea, which mj alleviates. M no one has ever died from an overdose of mj. the same can not be said of the rightly illegal drugs you list.

Julie - August 9

Yes I know that cancer patients are suffering from nausea. I had a friend who had kidney disease and also used MJ. I simply don't think it is an excuse to use it for pregnancy. They are 2 different issues.

m - August 9

so you're saying the only reason they made cocaine and opium illegal is because of overdoses? get real! Drugs are drugs, and why no one may have not died from an overdose of MJ, there is a reason it is illegal. I sure the hell dont want to be on the road with someone stoned, and trust me, my boyfriend used to get high all the time and he would become a complete idiot when he was stoned. I've never used it myself, and thank God he stopped when so we could conceive. Your body is a temple, and while people who are terminally ill find relief in mj, that's great, but pregnancy is not an illness! Its a gift and we should remember that, not abuse it. And you know something else, no one ever answered my question whether or not they would find it acceptable for a small child to smoke a joint...

t - August 9

not an illness, i suppose it depends on who you ask--kinda like this entire thread. can we stop beating this horse now?

N - August 9

i completely agree with t, just let his thread die already. No one will win.. its over.. everything there is to be said on this subject has been said three times already.. just let it go

Not to be difficult, but I have the book What to expect when you are expecting and it says absolutley nothing of what you said it says. Obviously you read that somewhere else, but What to Expect is a great book with alot of great information and it says nothing of the sort, it says not to continue use after you find out you're pregnant because nobody knows the effects. Anyways somebody mentioned this string of messages should end already and I agree, nobody is going to win, everybody has their own opinions and it seems as though this has become a p__sing contest between everybody!

im sorry but this post has really p__sed me off, i have lost 4 babies and desperate for another one, i dont smoke i dont drink i wouldnt dream of smoking drugs with or without a precious baby inside, it makes me sick that people can have babies who treat there bodies like this, you should ve thinking of your baby, but your just thinking of yourself, if you cared so much you would stop... poor baby, what a fun life it will lead

jessica - August 17

can you get pregnate from pre c_m even if he smokes weed?

KC - August 17

I don't know about the baby, though I would think it would harm it, but I used to work in a neurology office and I know you can get multiple sclerosis from marijauna, and a bad sort of it, at that. Please think about stopping and please let your Dr. know that you have been smoking it so they can do some tests to make sure the baby is ok on all levels.

me - August 17

First, to Crystal: Take good care of youself! You and your baby will be fine, but don't over-do the weed smoking. OK, now here's an angry PRO-POT argument for a change. Some people say the stupidest things! Thanks, you ladies crack me up.OOOh, this is gonna be a long one. To you women who believe and actually support that mothers have their babies taken away for marijuana use, SORRY, doesn't happen everywhere!!! Sickos. Not in Seattle. I guess CPS doesn't have the resources to SUPPORT all the POOR BABIES that would be RIPPED from their MOTHERS. Please, don't claim you care about the little ones. During pregnancy, some women DO have to smoke in order to EAT without barfing. You know, so the baby gets necessary nutrients enabling it to grow properly with no defects. The benefits GREATLY outweigh the risks, wouldn't you say? Now, these babies that are supposedly born with problems as a result of pot use, let's ask some obvious questions: Did mama smoke cigarettes? Drink alcohol? Eat well? Was the "slow" kid b___stfed as a baby? Let's stop spreading IGNORANCE. Women who smoke weed during pregnancy have healthy babies opposed to unhealthy at the same rate as other women. Women who didn't smoke it have kid's with learning abilities too. NO link has been found with marijuana and negative affects on baby, certainly not low birth weight. Marijuana IS NOT equivalent, and should NOT be equated to other illegal drugs. By far the WORST thing you can do to your unborn child (let alone yourself) is to SMOKE CIGARETTES! And it's LEGAL. Please, start questioning things that DON'T make SENSE. Studies aren't done about marijuana because BOGUS, GROUNDLESS claims that have been pa__sed on by ignoramuses are DISSPROVEN. My mom and dad were both faithful potsmokers. My 3 sisters and I were all weed babies and all came in to this world fat and healthy. We've all always been way above average intellectually. Wish you could meet us. I, being the youngest at 22 years old, always got A's in school with no effort. My sister's and I are solid proof that weed-smokers have NORMAL kids. We also have two younger half brothers, 10 and 6, who are both at math and reading levels two grades ahead of where they are and THEY were fathered by a pot-smoking attorney. You don't hear about us REAL potsmokers, but there are more than you'd think. We're not DOPERS. You know, your doctor probably smokes a joint every once in awhile. And as far as weed being addictive, a DUMBASS can get addicted to ANYTHING.

hear, hear. Finally someone speaking some sense! I would like to add one thing to that. I am sick to death of reading.."It's illegal, so it's irresponsible". I can just imagine these people sitting on their a__ses in front of their computers, whining that it is illegal, then the next day parking in a disabled parking spot or something equally as trivial without a second thought as to whether they are allowed to or not. Pot isn't illegal in every country in the world, and even in America, several states have decriminalised it to the point where you receive the equivalent of a parking fine for a small amount. The argument that it is illegal is completely worn out, get over it! If that is the only thing you have to say against it, you have no case. My dr told me at the beginning of pregnancy that for severe morning sickness a tiny puff every now and then would help me eat and nourish the baby. As for toxins and smoke going to baby, she laughed and said I would get more damaging smoke from walking round a city in traffic for a half hour! So, I hope all you holier than thou pregnant ladies are wearing a gas mask when you go into the city, or even just out in your car, because if you are not, you have no position to judge from, and perhaps we should all be yelling at you for being the irresponsible ones. I, for one, live in the countryside, so my baby who was exposed to the tiniest bit of weed at the beginning will be off to a fine start in the fresh air. Oh, and if you say "I had morning sickness and I coped", I lost my first baby due to malnourishment, so I think I know how bad it can really be, you think because you were a little queasy that counts. But who am I kidding, you people didn't even bother to read the post about the woman who had to have feeding tubes etc. because her morning sickness was so bad, why would you believe me? If you really want to make up your own mind about the real effects of pot, just do a search, but if you have already made your mind up that it is bad, like so many of you on here, then you will only find the negative information you are looking for, and will believe that anything else is simply potheads making things up. I feel sorry for the children of such narrowminded people.

Well I see this thread won't die! Enough already.

It is with great pleasure I present to you all (highly sarcastically) a list of DO'S and DONT'S for the pregnant woman: .......................................... 1.) No Weed. It will surely make your baby come out with 14 heads and 6 arms. You are a bad, bad momma. 2.) No occasional light drink. Even if it's just a gla__s of red wine, this is a sure fire way to cause your baby to be messed up for the rest of it's life and YOU are a bad, bad momma. 3.) None of the following foods: cold cut sandwiches, beef jerky, cream cheese, over medium eggs, tap water, Muslim bean pies, whole milk, food cooked in wine sauces, tofu, any and all soy. If you have consumed these foods, start worrying right now and continue worrying until the baby is born. These foods make you a bad, bad momma too. 4.) No forgetting to take your prenatal vitamin once in a while. Tape it to your forehead because forgetting is no excuse. You have deprived your baby and this may have been the day it was making an appendix or something. You are a bad, bad momma. 5.) No skipping your daily suggested ration of a quart of milk each day. What? you are lactose intolerant? Automatic bad momma status. Oh, and you just do not like milk, huh? Automatic bad momma status to you too. Oh, and you just don't 'feel like drinking all that milk a day', huh missy? You get superstar bad, bad momma status!! Go to your nearest cow and suck now. 6.) No indulging on cravings. You must only eat the healthiest food in the world to have a healthy baby. God could have never been smart enough to hard wire human beings for survival even when food was less than optimal. You are a bad, bad momma for eating cheesecake for lunch! morning sickness is no excuse.

Actually people think it won't harm the baby because nobody really had anything to say about smoking weed during pregnancy(nobody researched it)..but there are a lot of new researches recently that tell of many many risks to the baby. Many say that smoking weed is way worse than drinking. I would suggest looking some of these up online before continuing smoking weed...I smoked it before I was pregnant..but I certainly don't now.

doesnt like pot... - August 17

im confused, if there is things out there to say that smoking it WILL harm your baby and other stuff saying it WONT. why do people tend to smoke it aniways, you have another life inside you for christ sake, second hand smoke and all that, but sure keep believing that is doing no harm, i know people who did this and all there kids have lack of concentration at a later age, when there young they enjoy learning so you would proberbly never notice but as they get older, you can see it, i just dont understand why you wanna smoke anything whilst pregnant, that poor baby doesnt have a say wether he likes it or ot, but im sure he doesnt!!!!!!!
