Adding a couple ounces of water to the diet is always safe provided your baby is gaining weight normally. There are some other solutions in the thread right below yours:)

When my son was 7 days old he got constipated as well. I called the hospital and spoke to an infant nurse and she said to stick a thermometer in the a___l just a little bit. It worked! Whin in an hour he was pooping. I've heard a warm bath helps too.Good Luck

Yes, rectals work too. My son actually likes to have his rectal temp taken. He gets a funny grin and lays really still. Sick huh?

I would try some extra water. You should never take baby temp rectally because it's too easy to hurt/ damage them. Dr. says take armpit temp. even our hospital doesn't take temps rectally.

Not trying to start a fight, but under-the-arm is the least accurate temp.

my cousin's baby had the same problem her dr told her to put karo syrup 1oz in a bottle. Are you b___st feeding you could try eating some extra fiber, it seems on days I do that my daughter goes several more times than usual. If your formula feeding it could be the type of formula- you could try switching.... Also using a rectal thermometer with some lube on it insert it about 1/2" and swirl it around, that should help.
