Similac Making Baby Gassy And Fussy

my dd is 2 weeks and 4 days old. The hospital started her out on Similac Advanced with Iron... at first she seamed to like it, then she got fussy during the night, so the pedi. told us to try the soy version to see if it was an allergy. She reacted the same... no allergy. She was taking rougly 4oz. by the end of the week every 4hrs. Now she seams to be very gasy - farting (no matter how many times you get her to burp) and fussy all the time and only taking 1-2 oz. every 1-2 hours. I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem with Similac? Would switching to a different brand help?

My son was puking up the similac advanced in the hospital so they switched him to isomil advanced. Around 1 month they switched him to Alimentum Advanced because he was colicy. He is still pretty ga__sy but he isnt puking very much! I like the Alimentum....but its expensive! (unless you get WIC! Thank god for that!)

Yeah I think that Similac Advance is a little too much for newborns tummies. I agree with AML. My son was on Similac Alimentum and its a really good formula for newborns b/c its soo gentle on the digestive system, which makes for a happy baby and YES its very expensive. I just switched to good start b/c the Alimentum didnt seem to fill him up after awhile. and the doc said that we were giving him too much formula and that his weight gain was too rapid. He's been on the good start for about 4 days and so far he is doing ok. Hope this helps.

my ds also started to get fussy on the similac at around 4 weeks. We switched him to enfamil gentleease and he's been great ever since. he is now 4 months.

I had the same problem. We switched my dd to Alimentum as well because she couldn't tolerate soy. At the time of the switch, my ped said she wouldn't have to be on it forever, so I'm hoping she'll be able to switch soon. If she does, I'm thinking of trying good start as maybe it will be easier for her to digest. She's 4.5 months now and we switched around 9 weeks.

My son is 9 weeks and at 7 weeks we changed him from Similac Advance to Enfamil Gentlease and it has been great. He wasnt' severally fussy but very ga__sy and had started skipping days of bowel movements. Gentlease helped within a few days.

Last month when we put our LO on Enfamil gentlease, he became super gassy and gripe water, gas drops didn't work. Now, I mix one oz Babies magic tea in his 8 oz formula for two servings (once daytime and once night) and he passes gas and stool without any struggle.
