My baby is 5 months now, he's liked standing (with assistance of course :) since he could but now a days all he wants to do is stand. I think it is cute and he is happy doing it however, I was told that this could make him bow legged?? Other people have told me that this is an old wives tale. What do you think? I'm not sure but it worries me if it could be true.

Babies don't get bowlegged from standing, so don't worry. He might look bowlegged, especially when he starts walking, but if you had to go around all day with a big wad of diaper between your legs, you'd probably look bowlegged too. My daughter loved to stand so much that we got her an Exersaucer, so she could stand all the time. It's a stage that doesn't last forever (she's a couch potato now).

Other people are right. Bow shapped legs come from your genetic code. We're all born bowlegged because of our fetal post_tion and physiology. On the contrary babies grow out of their bow legs when they start standing and walking. Your baby is probably going to be an early walker.

My mom was on my b___t for the same reason, as my daughter loved standing too! I finally had to BRING her to the pediatrician so he could explain to her that she was WRONG and that my daughter was simply a strong baby... as others said, bowleggedness is form the womb and almost all of them straighten out
