UPDATE ON HORRIBLE TRADITION

Here is what my friend just wrote to me: She doesn't slap the baby reapedely until it cries. Once .. I heard is good enough... but, she lifts the baby by the legs then gives the baby a spanking. i think it's a "welcome" to the world kid. I'm your grandma.. kinda thing. According to him its not done hard. But, I still don't like the thought. It's been a tradition in her family. I guess that's where the tradition originates from.

I read the original thread and I still think the tradition sucks. Good thing we don't have any such traditions in our families. :)

I would not want anyone but the doctor lifting my baby by his feet. The head/neck is fragile. Tell granny to go sit in her rocker and chill out!

I hope your friend starts a tradition of slapping grandma, holding her by the legs of course.
