Autiisim And Vaccines WHAT

Hi, I have been terrified to get my son's shots. He is 6 months now and I finally made the app. for tomorrow. I read some posts about shots causing autisim, and really freaked out. Does this happen? I live in Canada. I am so scared the shots will make him not trust me (the pain factor) and most important, now, that they won't cause another disease. Has anyone waited longer for shots? Please help.I want so bad to cancel, but I also know they have their benefits.

I would wait longer and do some research. Go to the library and find and take out all the books on the subject. My husband did this and read up on the pro and cons. There is a book you can buy called '' A shot in the dark?" I have not read the book, but my kids are 5 and 3 and are not immunized. Neither are my neice and nephew and they are 15 and 18 with no health problems.

Are you vaccinated? Is your husband? This is something we thought about when we were discussing vaccinating. We both are and everyone we know is, NONE of us have autism. Your son will not have any problems with you holding him down for the shots, if you have a problem with this ask the nurse to bring another nurse in and you can leave the room. It only takes a second and some babies don't even react. I am not trying to make this decision harder for you, but think about later in life, there will be things he will have to go through that will be much harder than getting poked by a very tiny needle! Good luck and I think this should be something that you talk over with your family and dont't let a bunch of women (with very different views and from different parts of the world with different beliefs) talk you in or out of the idea. Good luck!

The jury is out on this issue..... litterally. There are no scientific studies that link autism to any vaccines; in fact numerous studies have failed to show a connection between autism and the MMR vaccine... yet many lawyers have succesfully argued there is. The controversy therefore came out of jury rooms where plaintifs have been awarded millions for this, with many overturned on appeals. Do your own research of course, but read both sides and understand that there are risks either way.... it's up to you to decide which way carries the higher risk, and statistically not having the vaccines carries is the riskier choice by far.

d, I'm glad it's over and that everything went OK. I hate those visits too! I think I probably get more nervous and cry more than the baby :) My son's 6 month visit is coming up soon too! but anyway, I just wanted to share with you that I had done some reading and what BBK says about there being no studies that link autism to vaccines is true. It's just that sx of autisim are first noticed around 1 yr. when their first MMR vaccine is usually given. But my personal choice is to give the vaccines, it's a lot better than by some chance getting the disease they help prevent. Take care:)
