Can you give newborns bottles of water to calm them down in between feedings? If so, how much?

YES YOU CAN JUST GIVE THEM ABOUT 1 OUNCE. DOCTORS SAY NOT TO BECAUSE THEY GET ENOUGH WATER IN THERE MILK. BUT IT WON'T HURT THEM.

I would say no not untill you start weaning your baby. You dont want to fill your baby up with water and then your baby wont want a good next feed. Newborns sometimes dont have good feeds as they fall asleep through it. Milk is the thing naturally made for your newborn. If your baby is unsettled after a feed it may be that your baby is still hungry.

No. If you are b___stfeeding, the baby doesn't need any water. Babies need to have every meal count. Water isn't what they need for propper nutrition. Breastmilk is specially formulated to meet all the nutritional needs of the baby. If the baby needs to calm down, maybe it's time to nurse again. (Water won't really calm them down anyway.) Some babies need to nurse more often than others. Often more than once an hour. As they get older, they nurse less often.

no, it can cause them to become dehyderated, plus it fills them up and they wont eat like they are suppose too, therefore there not getting all the nutrition that they need

Giving your baby water can cause them to become dehydrated?

It is quite ok to give your baby water, just make sure they have had plenty to feed before hand and make sure the water has been boiled first.
