hi i have a 41/2 month old and i was wondering if she's old enough to go in a exersaucer or a walker. she's very alert and likes touching and playing with new toys and they have such a variety of things a baby can do i think she will really enjoy it. my other question is which one do you recomend? i plan on only buying one because of space and also because they are expensive but i dont know which one is better. thanxs for your help

I bought the Evenflo SmartSteps for $99 at Babies R Us. Your baby will love it. You can pull it off the shelf at the store and place her in it, to try it. They are a miracle! Stationary is better, I think. A walker can be dangerous.

Where I live the walkers are illegal because they can be very dangerous. I bought the Graco Baby Einstein discover and play from Babies R Us. My daughter LOVES it! It was around $150 I think.

The exersaucer is great if your baby can hold themselves up. I put my son in it when he was 6 months and he loved it. When my son would go to my in-laws he had a walker. It was fine for their house because it would stay on the first floor, and there where no stairs he could fall down. The only thing about the walker that I had a problem with, was that it made my son not want to walk on his own when he was there. He would cry for his "wawa", and Nana would always put him in it. I understand she didn't want him upset, but he was almost 16 months old before he took an una__sisted step in that house. I would go with the exersaucer. Good Luck!

Just as the other ladies have said a walker is dangerous so don't get it! And exersaucer is great though, and your baby will love it.

I have a walker but I live in a ranch without stairs. I put him in it at about 3.5 months. My son is 19 pounds and has a very strong neck. I put a blanket in it (around his waist) so he's not wabbling around in it. He pretty much said bye bye bouncy chair once he got in it. He loves his. I think a stationary one is fine too. Get one that plays music and has lots of fun toys. Mine is the 2-1 walker by Kolkraft with the mini maistro. It was only $60 I believe at Babies R Us. Just make sure her body is stable. You don't want her flying back and hurting her neck. That can be dangerous.

I bought my first daughter's exersaucer at Goodwill for $8. We loved it. When we were done with it, we washed the seat fabric and pa__sed it along to another family. My mom gave us a walker, but we never used it.
