i hate going just about anywhere with my baby because after about 5 mins she starts getting fussy then a few minutes later she's screaming. and everything is like a 20 min car-ride from home! she won't go to sleep in her seat either. even when i'm sitting in the back and my dh is driving she does the same thing. then he gets desperate and tries to get me to pick her up but that's dangerous. i try to console her, play little games but after not too long she starts crying. what should i do? i'm sick of feeling like i can't go anywhere. how can i get her to not be fussy or cry? or do i just have to put up with it until she gets older? anyone else have a similar problem?

My nephew was like this. He hated his infant seat. I am not sure why but he would scream as soon as they would turn out of the driveway. They just a__sumed that he hated being in the car. Once he outgrew his infant seat and they bought a convertable seat he was fine. Maybe her seat is just not comfortable. The next time you go to the store, try out some other seats.

I agree with the car seat thing Stephanie said, but my little guy is hit or miss in the car too, sometimes he cries and screams and sometimes he just goes to sleep. He is now 3 mos old. Since he was a colicky baby, white noise worked really good for him, so what we started doing was putting static on the radio for him and he shut up immediately. It is very annoying to listen to but not as nerve wracking as a baby screaming while you are trying to drive and cannot pick the baby up! I would give that a shot because it works wonders for us even now. We joke about station 1110am having the best static in Cleveland!

My little fella is the same way, absolutely hates his carseat, but as I am usually by myself he just has to cry it out, thank goodness everything here is inly about ten minutes away. I find that music with ba__s works. Also I bought a nusery tape and he loves it. Hope this helps. I also try to go after he is well fed and ready to nap, then he usually falls asleep.

My baby hates the car as well, which isn't too great becuase my husband is working and in school so I run all the errands. Like Rachael said though, we also do the static thing and it works wonders. Sometimes we have to turn it up full blast though for a little while to get her to calm down, and sometimes it even puts her to sleep. Trust me, you get used to the noise and it is much better than your baby screaming.

We have certain CDs at home that Blake really enjoys. If he gets cranky in the car I play one of these CDs and it really seems to help. Also, lots of toys!!! I use linkadoos to attach some of his favorite toys to his carseat. There is a mirror at WalMart by fisher price it is from the Ocean Wonders collection.. I think..any how it is a large safe mirror and has lights and sounds activated by a remote control, maybe that would help.
