I have seen some harsh stuff directed at you here, but I am awed that you get sh!t from people in "real" life. I am awed because you seem not to have become bitter by it. I think you might be my hero for today!

I must say from all of JBears postings, she is always level headed, has good advice, and is not high and mighty upon herself. She seems very down to earth and at times has opinions that differ from others, but she is able to voice those, or type those, in a productive/non-defensive/nasty manner. Good job to you chick!

I have to say that I have written a few posts that have been mean (not to anyone in this post, I don't think). When I first started going on this post, I hated the mean people, but the more I saw stupid questions, repeated questions, and ignorant people.. I started to get meaner and meaner. My biggest pet peeve is when people bring their religous, right wing, relentless points of view. I can't stand ignorance. I'm trying to get better, though. Maybe there's like a 12 step program I can join!! :-) Sorry Alisha, I'm trying....

I feel the same way Alisha. I normally don't start a thread, I just read other peoples. I commented on the cereal in the bottle, and I got a rude response from someone. I thought this site was for advice-negative or positive, but it seems like more people like to judge other peoples parenting abilities! Maybe they should come up with a category called-"For Perfect Parents," because the ones who judge seem to think that they are perfect!

Formerly called "to abuse"... I am Vanessa's Mommy. I'm glad that you are not mad at me, and everyone is right... people do seem to be jugemental. I know that I saw a woman in the grocery store today who's baby must have been at least 12 months old, and still sucking on a bottle. My baby stopped bottle feeding as soon as I stopped giving her bottles. But not every one is that way. My baby also looks like she is at least 2 years old although she is 19 months, because she is so tall. (Vanessa is almost 3 feet) So people are probably wondering what I'm doing letting her have a binky (pacifier). Ah, well, it makes her happy, and so far is not wrecking her teeth. Just hang in there with your son... he will eventually let you dress him (I hope) Vanessa doesn't like to wear clothes unless it is absolutely necessary. And then I have to stress to her that it is absolutely necessary. I usually just let her run around the house in a diaper unless we have company. The diapering while standing is a feat in itself... but if it works it works. Keep doing what is working. But, sometimes you just have to "make" your kids do what you want or need them to do. Otherwise, they think that they rule the house. They are going to fuss and cry and scream. The best thing to do is to let them know that first of all, the noise doesn't bother you, and second, they are going to do what you need them to. It's not like you're trying to break their spirit, or anything, but preparing them for a world where they will always be told what to do from one source or another. The only other advice I can offer is be patient. Patience is a virtue as the saying goes.

Wow, I notice some people are judgmental about letting a baby suck a bottle after 1. I was told by a speech therapist "Sucking equals better communication/speech/language skills. I let my son drink from his bottle at 17 months. He has seen a doctor and dentist. His teeth is perfect. As long as you don't constantly put sweet drinks in the bottle its ok. Thumb strucking and blinky can cause as much damage as a bottle if not more. I just thought I say something. Take care

My baby is now 8 months and he could care less if I ever gave him a bottle. As long as he eats. I do however still give it to him. But I don't think it will be hard to break him of it when the time comes. When is that time?

Humm, I never said anything about always agreeing with her advice and opinons, but my point is that she comes across like a *gasp* adult...she does not name call or think that she's any better than any one of us. And sorry, if your gonna waste your time kissing a__s, I think that you'd not do it to a stranger over the intraweb but to someone in "your real life" wherein you may actually benefit from it. Enough said. Please do not reproduce. :o)

I am going into my 34 wk. of being pregant. Being naturally unsensitive toward my weight and size. I went in for check up this afternoon. All my doctor could say is how big I am he told me my bum is the size of a pool and my stomach makes santa claus look like he's a twig. Also when I walked into his office i got remarks from the scetary, WOW! your face has gotten so full maybe your should lay off the chocolate and donuts. Then I over heard her whisper to her younger son she is bigger than Thomas the train
I left in tears

Kristin~ Thats terrible people need to be more considerate to pregnant ladies especially if they have been pregnant before. I had people say things to me like that too I was called the good year blimp and the michelin tire man thats real fat. Even after I had my baby and lost all but 5lbs and people said wow you put on some weight. Arghhhh. wish you the best!!
