If you give your kid alcohol, I will be the first to offend you. I am not shy about it because it is so WRONG. Why does any child need to know the taste of booze? I don't care if it's beer, wine, a wine cooler, or Jack Daniels. I also agree about the pet peeve of kids with nothing but a diaper on. I saw this for the first time in the South. It was a hot day, but come on! It was in the mall, and it was fully air conditioned. I am not high and mighty so I hope nobody goes there. I like to have fun like everyone else but I draw the line at letting my kid taste what is most definitely an "adult beverage":)

I do agree people do what they think is best but that doesn't make it right. I think is boils down to education.

I don't even drink pepsi/pop! Why would a baby need it then? I totally agree with you. I wouldn't agree with parents putting pop in their childs sippy cups as well.

Who says you need to be perfect to not be a white-trash idiot who pours soda (not the occasional taste) and booze down your child's throat. Ooops! Did I offend any white-trash idiots that pour soda and booze down their children's throats. Sorry. NOT!!!

Is there any room left on this soap box? It's shame E had to resort to racial slurs, why not agree to disagree. The white trash statement totally unecessary. Who cares if people agree that they should or shouldnt have soda, those same moms are gonna keep doing what they are doing. This really started out as a semi harmless thread, how quickly the tide has changed

I did not mean to be racist. I don't think "white trash" is as much racist as it is a "lifestyle". I definitely did not mean to offend in a racist way. (Maybe) Sad but True - I guess there is room on the soap box b/c you found your way on it by calling me racist:)

yes, the white trash comment was out of line. Trash comes in all colours.

It's still a harmless thread unless you want to freak out about every syllable you find out of line. Also, there is nothing wrong with having an opinion, you might try it. I am proud of the fact that I have feelings about topics and issues. Lastly, if I am white, how can my statement be construed as racist?

Sorry E, i didn't really mean anything by that last comment there. I'm white as white can be, i'm not offended. But i guess I'm not trash.

I knew you didn't and no offense taken. I never thought anyone would think the term white trash would be racist. People always need to find a way to be offended, huh? XOXO

Okay, if you're white and using the term white trash, you're not racist, you're a snob... About the person you saw in the mall whose baby was only wearing a diaper? If the baby was clean and the diaper was fresh, maybe that mom was doing the best she could. If I could afford to buy a cute outfit OR a pack of diapers, but not both, the pack of diapers would win every time.

yeah, the best they could while in line at the cookie factory. whatever. i am sure she owns a pair of shorts and a shirt. like i said, it's a lifestyle. i may be a snob sometimes, but i am still a very nice and caring person. i judge people about the things that matter (compromising a child's safety/health). the clothes really don't bug me but the excessive soda/alcohol thing does. oh well, snobby me!!

oh, i forgot to say it wasn't a baby, it was a two year old girl who should have at the very least, been wearing a shirt.

i rather see kids in dirty clothes than no clothes. It's like asking for perverts to stalk you kid.
