Hi ladies- I have been wanting to get my son into his own bed for awhile now (he LOVES sleeping in our big bed), my question is how long did any of you use the bassinet part of the pack n play? It's big enough for him by far, but the weight limit is 15 lbs and he's already 16 lbs. It seems very sturdy, so I was just wondering if anyone used it longer than recommended. Of course I don't want to do anything unsafe, but the thing has metal bars in it for crying out loud! So please help, what did you do? Ps- I thought this thing was going to be sooo handy and now it's just a wasted piece of furniture!

By the time Asjani was 4 months, the middle of the ba__sinet started sinking in...by then she was 15 lbs...We got her a crib at 4 1/2 months. I liked the changing table part of it and the mobile the best....

As soon as my daughter was about 5 mos., I stopped using it. I just got too paranoid that she would all of a sudden learn to sit up in the middle of the night and pull herself up and over the side! She was about 15 lbs. I like the idea of the pack n' play b/c its good for over nights at grandma's or on trips. I just stopped using the ba__sinet part of it. Also, I loved the playpen part, and when I was vacuuming or washing floors, I'd put her in it in the living room w/ toys to keep her occupied.

I tried to use the pack n play with Lucas, but I give up. he'll probably never sleep in his crib. But I didn't look at the weight thing. My guy weighs almost 17 lbs. I would think a couple of pounds would not hurt anything. They do seem pretty sturdy.

My daughter will play in her pack n play, and nap in it, but we don't have the ba__sinet attachment - we just have the net part that lifts the whole bottom up.

Mine had the 3/4 ba__sinette, and Sophia got too long for it at about two months. She still weighs less than 15lbs. When I moved her to the crib, she didn't like it at first, so I put the bumper pads in for a couple of weeks (after I sewed about 20 extra ties on them). I think she just didn't like how open it felt at first. Now she doesn't have a problem with the crib.

Amaya has had a crib since she was born (we had the nursery all set up when I was 5 months pregnant! lol) she slept in her pack n play for 3 weeks and then we moved her to her nursery (she started sleeping through the night a week later) I still have the ba__sinet part attatched, she only naps in it and I am always in the room when she is napping. At night she sleeps in her crib. She is almost 18 lbs and I have not noticed it bending or bowing at all. I have not looked at the weight limit in a while but I was thinking it said 20 lbs when we put it up. Amaya still loves the mobile and likes being close to it. I am not sure when I will move it down to just a play pen b/c she is pretty good about staying in one room when she is playing (usually the living room) and it is very well baby proofed.

In my opinion you should adhere to the weight limit. It is set for safety reasons. It probably could withhold a few extra pounds but it would not be worth the risk.

Mine is a Graco and the ba__sinet part is very sturdy. I didn't realize the weight guideline was only 15 pounds until my babysitter bought a different brand. This one has a very unsturdy ba__sinet which made me look at my owners manual. My son was over 20 pounds by 4 months and was still in the ba__sinet part and I had no problems. I think I took it out at about 5 months because he started pushing himself up at that time. I don't really use my pack n play now because he's working on crawling and can sit up. Once he starts crawling I know I'll use the pack n play again. For example once your baby starts crawling/getting into things you will use it when you need to run to the bathroom/shower/do house work etc..
