I'm not advocating shoving your private parts into a kid's face! I'm referring more to situations where dad comes out of the shower and the daughter happens to glance at him naked, or sees him on his way to his room. Of course common courtesies and social norms should be exercised! In that type of situation it's not just "a grown man's p___s", it's her father. And she probably wouldn't be "staring" at it, but happen to catch a glimpse of it. There is nothing wrong with that.

I suppose when my daughters or we are uncomfortable, we will make changes. Our 4 year old lets us know how she feels pretty well. She was going to sit on her dad's lap and he was just wearing a t-shirt and boxers. She told him that his bottom was showing. So he adjusted and all was well. I think having another baby helped with a lot of those discussions. I had to take my daughter to my postpartem appointment with me. I was up on the exam table and she matter of factly got up and checked everything out with the doctor. Certainly not planned (!) and was a little weird for me, but she is just facinated with the way the female body makes babies. Then, she and the doctor discussed her future career delivering babies...

I have a funny story to share with you ladies...my aunt has 4 boys and one girl, the girl is a twin to one of the boys and their the youngest, with the oldest being 6 years or so older then the youngest. So one day in the summer it was the oldest boys 11th birthday and they were all out in the backyard and my cousin the girl was running around just in shorts, just like her brothers, then when her oldest brother got embaressed and told her to put a shirt on she screamed at him that "these aren't private parts yet" well indicating to her nipples!!! hehe I love that story we still bug her about it to this day!

I am going to guess 5 from the info provided. She is a twin and they are the youngest. Their oldest brother was 11 and 6 years older than them. I know not everyone is good at those word math problems. :)

I am almost tempted to post anymously (sp) about this bc I know ppl will have something to say. But, I decided not to bc I have nothing to be ashamed of. Beth, a 7 or 8 yr old is not staring at her father's p___s if she was accostomed to seeing it. My father did not just walk around the house naked but we did see him in the nude. If the family have always seen their family members naked, it means absolutely nothing to them the older they get. Different cultures brings about different results. Different strokes for different folks

I think there is some truth to that it depends on where you live and the culture. I cannot speak on your behalf because I've never been to Jamaica or to many other countries or cities. But in the city I live I don't see it as the norm for those ages. I could be wrong. It would be interesting to get survey studies on that issue.

My parents are not Jamaican, my husband is. My mom is Hispanic and my dad is from Trinidand & Tobago (another Caribean country). It would be interesting to do a study on it. I love research. BTW D, you better not make your findings too long!! LOL!!! You don't want to offend the ma__ses! LOL!!!!!
