Evening Primrose Oil Softening Ripening Cervix

Has anyone used this? Did it work? How did you use it? How long did it take? Any side effects? I am just wondering, cuz with my first son I went to 2cm and stayed until I had pitocin and I am 36wks now and still have a thick cervix that is dialated a fingertip (which is spose to be normal for your 2nd child) thanks everyone!

I am 38 weeks pregnant and I have taken evening primrose oil orally for the past two days and nothing has happened so far.

I have been taking it since 36 weeks. A week later i went ot the doctor and i had dilated to a 1. It wont hurt you it just prepares the cervix. I take 2 geltabs during the day and insert one inside me at night before i go to bed. each geltab is 1000mg. This is my 1st baby so i was suprised i was dilated at my last appt.

My midwife said to go ahead and put 4 capsules or so up as close to your cervix as you can get them. The ones I use are 500 mg. each. No side effects, but it's supposed to work better v____ally than orally.

I am 37 weeks pregnant. My midwife told me to cut a tiny little slit into the evening primrose capsul and itsert it like a suppository. I haven't tried it yet but i will let you know. Good luck!!

Hi ladies, I'm scheduled to be induced on Thursday the 29th, I've been taking evening primrose oil since 37 weeks and an 100% effaced but not dialating, do you think two days with inserting them into the v____a will help my progress for dialation before the big day????

Can't hurt, might help!! You can also take up to six a day orally. I might try doing both. That being said, my midwives have all said that the most effective way to ripen the cervix is s____n.
