I'm 39 weeks along, and I have had no contractions yet. This is my first pregnancy and I have not lost my mucous plug as far as I know.Though at my last appointment my Dr. told me I was beginning to eface and I was one centimeter dilated. Why am I dilating with no contractions and the fact that I haven't had anything yet does that mean I'm probably gonna be overdue?

I'm 39 weeks pregnant with baby #2 no contractions, and haven't lost my mucus plug either, i'm 2 1/2 cm. dilated, my baby weighed 8lbs at 38 weeks,my doctor said he might be able to do something this week but not to hold him to it, I was induced with my first child, I know exactly what your going through, they say the second one comes faster than the first but i'm not finding that too true !! Good Luck ~

You maybe having the contractions and not know it. If you are starting to dilate then you are having contractions. Some women don't feel the contractions until they are in full labor, and then some feel them right away. I'm on prego # 3 and the 1st child i did not feel the contractions until I was 5 cm dilated, the second I felt like it was just pressure, and so far with this one I feel both the pressure, bakc pain and I started with contractions at 20weeks. I would not give up, the baby maybe here sooner than you think. And also my 1st was born on his due date weighing 8&1/2 pounds.
