I have heard that sometimes the baby won't drop until the last minute. Babies have their own time table

I'm 6 days overdue and my baby hasn't dropped yet so I know excactly what you're feeling. I was under the impression that with 1st babies they normally get engaged 2-3 weeks before due date! i'ts very frustrating as i have done lots of walking, forewardsitting and squatting to help the baby along but nothing seems to work. i'm seeing the midwife tomorrow and was hoping that she would do a membrane sweep on me to hurry things along but now i'm wondering if that will make a difference if the baby is not engaged????? I'm beeing induced next wednesday (4/4/07) but i soooo want it to happen like NOW. This has been such a long pregnancy.....

jo- I heard that too, but more often they do drop atleast 2 or 3 weeks prior. It is just frustratingme. Emma- It's nice to know Im not the only one who hasnt dropped yet, but I do feel bad that your in the same boat. I wonder if it does make a diff or not (stripping membranes) if baby has'nt dropped. I have to go to the docs tomarrow morn so I will ask, hopefully I will get to her something good ie: (dialated or thining out) Lucky you, you atleast got an induction date, but I hope you get to go naturally b4 then. I was in the hospital with false labor on Monday and was told my cervix was posterior and that the baby was still very high... today she dropped and I mean dropped, my stomach looks lower and it feels like I have to pee all the time. I'm being induced on Saturday so we'll see if the baby beats the doctor to it but I think that when your baby is ready she'll get into position! Good Luck

I was induced on the 12th and had my baby on the 14th.( c-section.) My little girl never came down. never dropped. I was thinning and dialated to almost 2. Well Good Luck.

I saw the midwife yesterday and the baby has finally moved down. What a relief as i was sure that was not the case as my bump looks higher than ever and the baby has been pressing on my ribs even more than before. i also asked the midwife to do a membrane sweep to hurry things along. It wasn't painful at all but obviously didnt do the trick as im still very much pregnant!!! it was worth a try though. Tomorrow I might try some castor oil and hopefully that will work if baby is ready. Might not be the most pleasant thing but HEY if it works it will be soooo worth it. My sister took castor oil with her second baby and had her girl the same day. Her neighbour also tried it and it worked for her, so I'm hoping it might work 4 me too:)
