yup it happens, but you wont even know, They dont tell you, they dont make bad faces at you. It just happens its not big deal. They clean it up and move on, what do you expect when your pushing that hard. Dont worry about this, there is other things you should worry about. Pooping should be the last thing on your list.

Like Cevvin said, if you do you will never know. Make sure to tell your hubby not to tell you the truth even if you ask. Worked for me. I have no idea if I really did or not, and everyone I asked has said, "no". It is such a small thing, don't give it another thought.

I’m due the 19th and I wonder about that also. People say you don’t care when it is happing but I really don’t want to I think that I would be horrified!!!

Trust me, you will be so concentrated on pushing that baby out, and if your not, your not pushing hard enough. You wont notice.

try to make pooping the last of your worries during labour

I didn't. A lot of women get rid of it all before labor really starts (I was one of those, lol). I know I didn't because my hubby would NEVER let me live it down if I had. We'd still be amused by it. Of course my SON pooped while he was coming out, so maybe he made up for it, lol. At any rate, don't worry about it. There will be so much other gunk coming outta you, you won't notice. GL~ spam

Honey if it happens you will never know because they change the pad out so fast and you will be so distracted you won't even care! Don't worry - unless you have an empty stomach when you go into labor it could happen but that doesn't mean it will happen to you - just relax you are in the home stretch - besides no one makes a big deal out of it anyways!

I'm due at the end of February with my thrid child and I still worry about this. I'm not worried about whether I'll know or not. If it were just the doctor/nurses and myself in there, I would care less since I don't have to see them again, but it's the rest of the people that will be there such as my husband and mother-in-law. I figure, my mom will be in there, but she's my mom and has seen it all before, but there are no circ_mstances in which my husband and especially my mother-in-law should ever see me poop! And being that this is my third child, there wasn't a point in time that I stopped being self-conscience about this. I thought about it between each and every contraction! How sad! Lucky for me I take a ton of iron pills everyday and we all know what that does to you so if I can't go when I'm supposed to, I figure I probably won't when I'm not supposed to either. At least that's what I'm hoping for!

OMG please don't worry about this. Once the time comes for you to push the baby out I promise that's not what will be on your mind! I know there was a post about this before. My cousin was a L&D nurse and she said it happens ALL the time and they think absolutely nothing of it if it does they just kind of brush it aside and it doesn't cross their mind again. I don't think you will go full fledged #2 but some people may go a little. Do not worry about it! With my first son I made the mistake of giving into the nurses and getting an enema (which was not a small fleet it was more along the lines of an IV BAG of fluid they pumped into me)...it was AWFUL and made things more miserable and I would not recommend it...oh and I still went #2 a little bit (pushed 30 minutes). With my second son I didn't go at all but he was out after the second push. Good luck to you all and please dont worry about this!

My Lamaze teacher told us that the reason women poop is cause when the baby is pushing it's way out, it's squishing your rectum. So whatevers in there kinda just gets pushed out cause of all the pressure baby's head is putting on it. When you put it like that, it made me not so worried about pooping, cause I know there's nothing you can do about it, it;s out of your control.

Everyone worries about this before they have a baby. I don't know anyone who actually cared when the time came.

You know, I was terrified of this also. Before the contractions started kicking my a__s, that's all that me and my nurses would talk about.. I told them how freaked out I was that I'd either pee or poop while I was giving birth.. They all literally laughed at me and said that they've seen worse, and if you do poop, they know that you are pushing correctly. They also laughed and said "hey, then you're making more room for baby to come out!" ... I ended up pooping a bit, and I didn't give a care in the world... When that little guy was put on my chest, the only thing I could think about was how happy I was that we had both made it safely.. :) It'll be ok, I promise!

4 times and its never happened to me!! Seriously I really didn't know it could - duh! -- until my last child and I was on this forum!!! I know it won't happen to me because my body totally empties itself in the hours before labour - or the hours of labour? - don't worry about it though...beautiful baby coming your way!!!

haha, i don't know if i did either. But try not to concentrate on that otherwise you will never get that baby out of there. I was self concious about it happening so i tried not to push out my bum and just the front but it really didn't work, the one nurse kept yelling and saying i wasn't doing it right, lol. So once the nice nurse came in i just gave it everything anyway. I probably did because i remember them wiping something, but i had barely eaten that day because i was at the hospital most of the day.
