How long after you were started on pitocin(sp?) did you have your baby?

dani - August 26

pit started at 7:15, water broken 8:30. Baby born 9:18. So 2 hrs.

Both of my first two deliveries were induced by pitocin. The first took 16 hours and the second took 26 hours. It really depends on how ready you are as to how effective it works.

first child- induced and water broken 9 am i was 3 cms she was born at 12:05. Second- started labor by myself at 12:15 i was 4 cms and they started the pitocin and i delivered at 3:19. So pretty much 3 hours from the start for both.

yes, it really depends on how well your body is ready. I was at 4cm/70% for over 2 weeks that's why I went so fast. It was also my 3rd.

Well, for all 3 pregnancies, my water was broken at 7am, pitocin started within 1 hour of no real contractions, upped every 15 minutes or so, 1st baby born at 4:11pm, 2nd born at 2:43pm, and the 3rd born at 1:45pm. And if I should need to be induced with this pregnancy I will ask for the same method. Because it seems to work best for me! And Maybe this one will come befoe Lunch!! (LOL) However I would like to go into labor all on my own for once, this is my last Baby.

Exactly 5 years ago today (8/29/00) I was induced. They started pitocin at 11:19am, and my son was born 11:19pm. So it was exactly 12 hours for me.

Pat when are you bieng induced, I am on wednesday. I am 2 weeks over due today and as of last weeks apt I was 3cm and 80%. So I hope it is painfree and short. So far the last few weeks have been so long, so I should diserve a short labor right, haha. How far along are you?

wendy - August 29

my second child was induced starting at 8:45 am I had him at 9:37 pm My 4th was also induced starting at 1:30 pm I had her at 6:02

rae - August 30

i was induced for my second child. 34 weeks because of my blood pressure. they gave me pitocin and i had my baby in two hours.

CM - August 31

Had pitocin twice, one was about 12 hours and the other about 13 hours. The second time labor even started on it's own and water broke naturally before the pit, sigh. Lol!

They started the Pitocin at 6am and at 10:30am, they had to increase it greatly because I commented on how easy the contractions were (I should have kept my mouth shut) Once they increased it, the bad contractions hit within 30 minutes but the epidural didnt come until 3pm. My daughter was not born until 9:09pm. What a loooong day that was but definitely worth every minute.

Nicole - September 10

Started Pitocin at 7:00 and had the baby at 1:42. A little over 6 1/2 hours. I was dialated to a 2 and no effacement. They had to break my water at around noon or one and that's when the hard labor started so it wasn't that bad until then.

Ashlie - September 10

I was induced by having my water broke, then after having an epidural I was given pitocin and it was probably 3-4 hours after that when I had my son.

Nelly - September 10

I was induced with my first daughter and they started my pitocin around 8am and I had her at 3:24am the next morning. I went into labor 1 week early this time and labor was nowhere near as long.but way more painful!!

well.... 4 days for me. My body just wasn't ready, but the doc wanted the baby out, so we kept at it. I went unmedicated for most of it, but didn't progress past 3cm. Once I got an epidural ( light.. I could still feel my legs) I had the baby 1.5 hours later. Pitocin wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I will never use it again. Being hooked up to the IV for the whole thing SUCKED, and made things like walking to encourage contractions HARD.

mom42 - September 20

I had my water broken, which kicked me into labor. Had the baby 3 hours, 20 mins later, never needed the pitocin.
