Dont worry about it! As I said above, I was really worried about it. But I had my baby Monday and it was the last thing on my mind. I knew I was being induced so I made sure I used the bathroom Sunday, and then didnt eat very much after that. The hospital did do routine enema's but I refused and it was fine. I only had to push 3 times (and yes lala, it felt just like having to take a poop, just a huge one!! lol) and nothing came out. So dont worry about it!!

sahmof3 - dh is already laughing at me on this one...I told him he is going to have to stay up towards my head and not at my feet. He's giggling at me now and its not even happened yet. Meanie. Even if I told him to lie to me...it would come out down the road and he'd point and laugh - not to be mean, but just silly. I don't think the hospital i'm going to gives enema's...i'll have to ask. A friend of mine suggested doing one myself..but how? I can barely manuever around myself these days or put my own underwear on without ha__sle..how am I supposed to give myself a freakin enema?

Well, I was so fearful of this, because that is exactly how you push! I told the nurse I was worried and her words were, "I hope you do! Because then I know you are pushing right!"....ahem.....so I spent the next 2 1/2 hours trying to push out a turd onto the bed. I have NO clue if I did or did not, I think I would rather not know! rofl

I wasn't able to have a BM for two weeks prior to giving birth because LO's head was blocking the pa__sage, so I had an enema ( elective) and I STILL pooed on the table!!! Seriously though, you won't even notice let alone care if you do....

my midwife told me that the rectal muscle closes over due to the pressure of the babies head so there is no way that you can poo. You can pee however cos I did embarrasingly. They thought my waters had broke but they hadnt it was a little puddle of pee instead lol. And I also vomited afterwards with my other two children. Dont know how I will go this time.

kyes- i sooooo understand what you're going through, when i was pregnant with my 1st kid, the only thing on my mind, was not labor, not pain, not bonding, only which was worse- having an enema or making on the table!!!! i was freaking about that for weeks before the labor. in the end i did have the enema, and it's kind of gross, but it's MUCH better than the embara__sment of making on the table! but either way, the drs and nurses really couldn't care less, they see it every day. good luck!

On th eother side of things - I have had 3 kids and always have the urge to empty both my bowels and bladder long before I actually give birth - at least 2 hours if not more beforehand....Of course I don't have an epidural which I think from what I've read on this site and greatly affect your ability.....But I do need an injection for vomiting - I'm sick during every labour and there's enoughto concentrate on without feeling like c___p! But I'm sure everyone here is right - the m/wifes have seen it all before and hey you'll be getting handed a baby shortly after to cuddle so ...who cares!?

it does not happen to everyone but if you are that worried you could try a bit or castor oil or some senacot as a natural laxative which will keep you going but not really bad just enough so you keep your bowls as empty as you can also to try to help do not eat really big meals little and often that way the sennacot works alot better i did it with my first and am doing it with my second who will be here any day now

I didn't see it happen myself but I made my dh swear ahead of time that he would tell me "no, you didn't" if i asked if that happened. I have never asked because I know he'd say no! :) Worked for me!

I never did have a bowel movement when I left the hospital, they asked me if I did and I lied and said I did and when we got home I told my husband that I never did have a bowel movement and I was so scared because I needed to go, but I was afraid to go because of the st_tches. So my husband went to Wal-Mart and bought an enema and did everything for me about 5 seconds later everything came out, I felt so much better. But I was tired of being in the hospital and I know I probably should have told them that I didn't have a bowel movement, but I didn't want them to do an enema, I wanted to be at home if I needed one.

But i dont think ill let him give me an enema. My flat mates constintly laughing at me saying "Haha Your gunna shoot poo at the doctor!!" I cant say i really want to lol!!
