What DID Put You Into Labor

Thanks again for all the replies. I've tried the spicy food, eggplant, walking, and red raspberry leaf tea (which made me deathly sick) and none of it worked. S_x does seem to bring on contractions so I might have to try that one some more. HAHAHAHA SuzieQ, who told you ingested s____n would help you go into labor? Sounds like someone had an alternative motive to me :) Vonzo, your tv blew up? That story is too cute. Maybe I should get someone to scare me.

well i have tried all that was mentioned (i was induced my first) but i also had my husband ma__sage a pressure point on my ankle and right after that like the next day i started having contractions and ever since then i've been having them(for two weeks now) but im almost there cause im 4cm and 80%effaced i probably would have had him by now but he hasnt dropped so my doc thinks that he just might be too big but good luck

with baby #1 i tried drinking castor oil - GROSS!!, with baby #2 i tried jumping on the bed, doind jumping jack and cart wheels, all that resulted in was a very achey belly and back, i tried bumpy car rides.... full blast ba__s in my friends car... just vibing through the seat, running up and down the stairs.... walking and walking.... nothing worked. In the end for baby #1 and baby #2 it was having my water broke by the docs, For baby #3 i was induced, and for baby #4 i my water actually broke on its own.

with my first I used a mix of caster oil, orange juice and enos, which is a sparkling antacid, this is what my midwife told me to take, so i tried it on my due date and 5 hours later i was in labour, so i thought i would try it with my second, twice, but spent the the day on the toilet with pains, but no baby, in the end i had to be induced. I was told if baby is not ready then baby wont come.

hey girls. thought i'd join in and let you know what happened with my first baby. i was put on bedrest at 32 weeks. my work gave me 12 week maternity leave, but it started day one of bedrest. so, needless to say, i wanted to have my daughter right away so i could spend as much of my maternity leave with her as possible! i tried EVERYTHING: castor oil, jogging, s_x, drinking hot sauce, drinking balsamic vinegar, everything! nothing worked. i was borderline gestational diabetic, and i even tried to drink as much punch the morning before my dr appt, thinking he'd induce me if my sugar was high enough! finally at 38 weeks, they induced me because of my blood pressure being so high. so nothing worked for me at all!!!! let me know if there's a miracle pill or something!

well ladies I am now overdue. I have tried it all (eggplant, pineapple, s_x, tea, walking) and nothing has worked! I've been trying to find some info on pressure points so maybe I can try that one. It actually makes me feel better to hear from women that are/were as frustrated as me when nothing works to get the baby out. I'm so ready!!!

Gena - January 3

are they planning to induce you single?? Everyone keeps telling me to take castor oil, that it worked for them. I just dont' think I can stomach it. Good luck to you

I have a book here that I am reading. It gave me an idea I have never heard of before which was after your due date to have a bath with clary sage. For whatever reason it is suppose to get you contracting. So far it sound like one of the best and safest options to me for both me and baby so am definetly going to give it a try. If it does not work at least I will have a nice relaxing bath.lol

I've had success with acupuncture. It really surprised me how relaxing it was and not at all painful. I don't know how open you are to that since explaining how it works can't be explained by Western medicine. But there was a study recently done by midwives in New Zealand on lots of pregnant women who received acupunture to help rippen the cervix once a week for 4 weeks up until their due date. Compared to the control group, the women who receieved the treatements ended up going into labor more closely to their due dates than the ones who has not. They can actually speed up or induce a labor, but I'm only 37 weeks. I have an appointement for the next 3 weeks and on the 3rd appoinment, or my 40th week, if I haven't effaced or dilated, I'll have her do her best! Anyway, I love it nd thought I'd throw it out as an option that couldn't hurt!

I did the castor oil thing and I went into labor 2 days later. I wouldnt recommend that unless you dont mind extreme diarehha and throwing up! Thats supposely what gets your uterus contracting though --your intestines are moving and it rubs up against your uterus and gets it to contract. Also, theres a gel they use to induce labor that the main "ingredient" is also found in sperm. So, it would make sense that s_x does induce labor. I've heard that both help to induce labor from doctors...

Drank 2 oz of castor oil in some sunkist about 20 min ago. Burps are nasty tasting, kind of like how vaseline smells. Read that instead of drinking it in OJ that soda is better and shake it up good then chug it, I'd recommend a straw. The oil is still thicker than the soda and you get "lumps" of it. but by putting the straw toward the back of your throat you wouldn't tase as much. Didn't think of that until afterward. Someone else recommended grape juice, said the burps were just grapey, no oil taste. Anyway, I will post the results on here tomorrow or asap. I hope this works

Oh and I tried the brown sugar drink, didn't work but it did make me feel BETTER.

Karissa - May 7

You know what. I have been contracting for a week now, it seems to be dialting me slowly, but nothing much more. I have been drinking rasberry leaf tea for two months now, no results. I tried the castor oil thing twice, mixing it with OJ works for taste. But all the oil did for me was give me bad diarrea. So I tried the pineapple thing which made me very ill. I was puking all night long. And no results. The brown suger thing made me very sick as well, with again no results. All I can think of is that my baby is not ready to come out yet, no matter how ready mom is for him/her to come out. If anyone knows any good ways to help me along I would very much appreciate them. By the way im 39 weeks, so its safe at this point.

S_x will work if you are close to going into labour - sperm carried the same hormone that they use to induce you - I think it is prostin? but don't qupte me on it. Nothing put me into labour other than when I was induced with my third baby and even then it took a while! A lot depends on how close you are to going into labour on your own and what will give you that little added push! My sister was late, she had a hot bath (came out looking like a lobster), a hot surry and then s_x. She was in labour two hours later! Castor Oil is usually a big no-no as it has dire effects on your body and can make you quite ill. The baby will arrive when it is ready and they can't be rushed!

Luc - May 9

We've tried it all!!!! she overdue by 1 day and we are on the induction list , her water broke over 36 hrs ago.... so anxious!
