7 Weeks Spotting Heartbeat But Small Yolk

This is my first pregnancy and I just went for U/S as spotting over weekend, I am 7 weeks however yolk sac is size of 5 weeks/3 days. Baby is size of 6w 4days. I am a late ovulater I have 31-32 day cycles. I saw the babys heart beat but doc says I have 80% chance of miscarraige, I am booked in for U/S in 8 days. With 20% chance of survival, what needs to happen for the baby to survive and if it does survive will it be ok? Has anyone had this problem and not miscarried?
