I am currently 22 wks pregnant with my fourth baby (and last!). I started having pains in my belly button area and I showed my OB who was quite surprised at the severity of the hernia and advised me to keep an "eye" on it. He mentioned I might want to see a surgeon so it could be evaluated. Since I was pregnant and it wasn't causing too much discomfort at my last OB visit I decided to delay seeing a surgeon since operating during pregnancy can be risky. However, it is starting to hurt more when I bend over or during general movement. I plan to call the OB Monday for a referral to a surgeon so I don't end up in the ER having emergency hernia surgery!!! Anyone else been thru this? I know of know one else who is going thru this during pregnancy. I would love some advice! Thanks!

I too had the same thing happen to me with the birth of my second child. After he was born they went in just under my belly b___ton and repaired it, it was really no big deal, if you are planning on having your tubes tied after the birth, they will probably cut you just under the navel to repair it.... pretty simple really...mine has never bothered me again. good luck and God bless

I, too, had a herniated belly b___ton with my third pregnancy. It was very painful, but there was some relief once my uterus extended beyond that level. I was told that I needed surgical repair also, but opted against it. I had no more pain or problems after delivery. My son is now 15 months.

Hi ladies! Thank-you to all that replied. I have an appt with a surgeon for general consultation in about a week. It only bothers me when I am very active and do a lot of bending over. My OB's think I will make it thru delivery but just wanted the surgeon to "take a peek" so I can be established as a patient! The benefit is that he is a vascular surgeon so he can also take care of my lovely varicose veins during the hernia repair! sometime after delivery. Oh the joys of pregnancy! Lucky me!! Good Luck to you Patricia on your pregnancy!!! Also, be careful not to lift more than you have to. Nikki
