I have found this site so comforting ever since I discovered it. Each time I've had a concern or question I come here and it helps me to read everyone's situation. I found a lot of hope in times that I didn't think there was any. I hope that my story will give some of you a glimmer of hope as well.
I'm 8 weeks pregnant. My first trip to the doctor she did an ultrasound to verify exactly how far along I am since I dont' have regular periods. We discovered through the scan that I was at 5 week, 4 days. Did the routine bloodwork hcg levels were at 14,000 then only went up to 18,000 in 24 hours. At the time of the scan the tech thought she saw a yolk sac but wasn't certain. Well my then ob/gyn called me and kept saying she wasn't optimistic, because of the levels (she felt she should see more than yolk sac) told me it wasn't a viable pregnancy and wanted to rush in for a D&C. I wasn't showing any signs of miscarriage and just felt I needed to wait a bit longer.(especially after reading many of the other women's posting from this site.) I held out and decided to wait, and find a different doctor. Well this weekend (June 3) I started spotting. Mostly brownish, not heavy, then a little pink. Even thought I felt a bit crampy with some back pain. I thought for sure this was it, the miscarriage was in progress. It would start up then stop. Well I called the new Ob/gyn and she had me come in for an ultrasound today. I'm happy to report that they saw the baby, heartbeating, 162 beats and so far everything looks great!! My new ob/gyn couldn't believe that the previous doctor wanted to do a D&C at 5 weeks!!!!!! I hope that his helps someone out there. There is hope even when a doctor says there is no way you have a viable pregnancy. The other doctor put me through h__l and I can't believe that if I would have listened to her in the beginning that I would have a aborted a healthy embryo!!! Good luck everyone!!!
