How Can Father Help Mother After A Miscarriage

My wife and I recently had an ultrasound and there was no visual sign of a heartbeat and the sack was too small. The doctor had her do a blood test and found the numbers to be too high for what the ultrasound showed. The doctor suggested to wait 2 weeks since my wife had not experienced any bleeding. Basically we are dealing with a miscarriage and I would like some advice to get us through it.

It is not easy to deal with for any of us. Some medical reports estimate that between 50 and 75% of all pregnancies miscarry (most before we even know we are preg.). a__sure your wife that it is not anything she did and that God/nature have their own way of knowing when it is the right time. Just be there for her. On another note - Are you sure she is miscarrying? How many weeks would she be now?

She is right at about 9 weeks now. As of Friday her count was at 32000 and hasn't taken another blood test yet.

The Hcg Levels can still increase slightly if she is xcurrently miscarrying but they would not be increasing as the same rate as if she were not miscarrying. The way to check is to compare the subsequent tests in a certain time frame. Anything over 25,000 is considered normal for her stage. At 9 weeks most pregnancies are monitored by ultrasound rather than HcG, however. Heartbeat is expected to be seen on ultrasound by 8 weeks. Have they provided you a crown to rump measurement or any other info from the ultrasound?

Also, are you all sure of the date of her last menstral period?

Just in case you are gone but check back, average crown rump length (CRL) at 9 weeks is 13-17mm. If your pract_tioner took the measurements, they should be displayed on the ultrasound photo (if they gave you one). Also, be wary of "guessing" at your dates if you are not certain. HcG levels are not solidly accurate as a predictor of gestational age and they can vary greatly among individuals. The best predictor of age is your wife's last menstral period date.

They haven't told us about CRL or anything like that. We feel like we've been left in the dark. One more day and still no bleeding.

The only thing you can do is be there for her. It is a terrible thing for a woman to go through. I had a miscarriage I year age on New Years Eve. My husband took it alot better than I did. Just listen to her and understand how difficult it is as well as sharing your true feelings about it. I am very sorry to hear what you are going through. You are in my prayers.
