Does anyone know the possible effects or complications on a newly developing baby from anti-psychotic substances used to treat schizophrenia? (I've been on it for nearly 2 years, & stopped at 4 weeks pregnant.)

What drug(s) specifically? I will tell you what category they are listed in but you should ask a doctor about it. Embryos that suffer damage from teratogenous substances during the first trimester tend to miscarry. I have another question for you. Did you stop taking the meds on your own will or at the advice of a doctor?

Abilify. Known to work differently than other anti-psychotics but they don't fully know why. I stopped by my own will & verified the next day by both my DO & Phd that it was best to be off of it, but no one seems to know why. After checking online, I learned there were no studies done on pregnant women, but "unwanted results" were found in animal experiments. Do you know if Abilify is a teratogenous substance? Thank you for your replies!

No I haven't- net only so far. Do you mean medical journals? Where do I start? Any tips?
Also, you had mentioned you could tell me what category Abilify is in?
Thanks so much!

Many research journals require a subscription to view anything more than the abstract. Call OTIS. They will give you the most updated info on this drug. http://www.otispregnancy.org/

I cannot find its category as it does not seem to be listed. A pharmacist will answer this for you if you call. Try walgreens, they are helpful.
