Vaginal Ultrasound No Heartbeat At 8 Weeks

I went in for my first va___al ultrasound yesterday (May 26th) and I had calculated I was 8w,2d since my LMP. According to the u/s, I was 6w,5d and no heartbeat was found. My husband and I saw a peanut size baby however. The tech didn't say anything but as soon as my doc came in, I suspected the worst. They told me that I had either miscalculated my LMP or the baby died but I just didn't pass it on my own which they say sometimes does happen. I have no symptoms of cramping or bleeding and still feel the same pregnancy symptoms that I have had for the last 4 weeks. They are expecting the worse but they sent me yesterday for hCG levels. Today they came back surprisingly high at 64,020 which the nurse said was pretty good...tomorrow I am going for a repeat test to compare the numbers. After talking to some people who have experienced miscarriages and reading this website, it seems as though my doc has set me up for the worst when there are still so many unknowns. I have another u/s scheduled for next Tuesday but they want to schedule me for a D&C if the levels are down and still no heartbeat. Any advice/feedback would be very helpful...I just don't know what to do...everyone says I should go elsewhere. I just don't know what to think at this point. I am very concerned and confused!!! Thanks!

Natalie, Every women is different and it is not uncommon to ovulate a few days off from what you would think. With that said, I'm sure the doctor will have you repeat a u/s within a few weeks and that would be the one you and your husband should focus on. With your hormone levels high, and as long as you have all those wonderful symptoms of pregnancy-- Do Not Worr y.
