went to MD yesterday and I am 80% effaced and 2cm dilated. I am almost 38 weeks.. I have had a yeast infection for 2 weeks now and have been treating it every day and taking extreme precautions. When I told my doctor, he said that there was nbothing I could do b.c the reason why it is not getting better is b/c the babies head has dropped and it is pushing the medicine back out. I am really worried about having a baby with this infection. Anybody know anyone that has had this problem and everything turned out okay?

Hi! I have had yeast infections since the beginning and I am almost sure that I will be in your shoes at 38 weeks. I just can't get rid of this infection! Anyways, from what I have read, the only danger having a yeast infection can pose to the baby (if he/she is born v____ally) is that in the fews weeks after birth they MIGHT develop thrush of the mouth. Apparently not a big deal at all and easily curable. I am sure you will not be the first to give birth with a yeast infection. However, what I am surprised about is that you have not tried anything orally yet. I know some friends who were given some oral yeast medication in pregnancy and the infection cleared right up. I will ask that from my doctor b/c I don't think the cream works (like you said it never gets all the way up.) Good luck!
