Gallstones During Pregnancy

Hello ladies, I hope everything is going ok. Shelly, I can understand your anxieties about going into labor its a scary feeling not knowing what to expect I went through it all with my first child. This is one of the things that used to keep me up at night, I used to tell my husband all the time, what are we going to do with a baby. I don't know how to take care of a baby and you don't know how to take care of a baby, for sure we are going to kill this baby. But everything turned out fine. As for the labor, I also don't have anything to compare it to but it is the worst pain I have felt and having your gallbladder attacks or surgery still offers no comparison. But it is like Tami says, you will only go through labor once during this pregnancy and it is all over before you know it. I took a lot of the pain because I was determined to deliver without meds. I now know that inducing labor is a lot more painful, but I didn't know that then. Once the meds were given to me, it all calmed down. As for your husband, I wouldn't worry about it. My husband and I went to natural childbirthing cla__ses and he still didn't know what to do, but they adapt well. Believe me you won't want him to do or say much but stand by your side. I was so mean to my husband that he says he's dramatized and needs counseling. LOL. But he stepped into his role rather well. He pratically delivered the baby. All the women in the hospital decided to deliver at the same time and the doctors were all busy with twins and so one. He learned how to read the contraction monitor and would tell me when to hold it and when to push. The doctor just came in when the head was showing and helped the baby the final inches and gave me the episotomy. He even jokes and says that he can deliver this baby in our home, I of course don't think so. I wouldn't worry about his role in the labor, I would let him worry about that you have enough to worry and think about right now. He will step up when it is time. The only advice I give you is that it is painful but you are walking into this situation knowing this. I walked into it thinking it was a walk in the park, my mother had short labors and no meds and I figured it was going to be the same for me. I thought I had prepared by attending cla__ses and reading books but it was all different. But you go into this labor knowing that its going to be painful and knowing that you might have to take meds and that is an advantage. You will be that much stronger and more mentally prepared. It is all over very fast and it all disappears once you hold your baby in your arms. It is a moment I still remember seeing this little person that had caused so much trouble all those months and seeing your husband cry and you cry and just a wonderful event. I just hope that our second baby's delivery is just as memorable.

Hey, I hope everyone is doing fine. I am a lot better although, I am now suffering from the same horses Shelly had earlier. I know how much they can hurt and I usually get them as soon as I wake up and not to mention the countless hours I have spent of the toilet because of my little one sitting on my bladder. I feel like a bad mother already! I usually get her to get off with sugar. I just eat something sweet and get her all hyper. Isn't that bad shes not even out and I'm already givin her sugar and saying here give me a break. LOL. My first doesn't even need sugar to be hyper she is just permanently wired, just like I was as a child. Shelly, I hope you are doing, Ok, we haven't heard from you in a while. I know how nervous it is knowing that the labor is coming soon and more specifically that you even know what week, but it's not all that bad. It will be all over soon and all will be worth it and soon forgotten. Tami, I know moving time is here now, don't lift any heavy items..and I mean it...look I sound like my mother...but we tend to think we are undestructable some times. That's what I miss the most during this pregnancy is being able to pick up and carry my little girl. I can't because I'm pregnant and just had surgery about a month ago. I hope everyone is doing Ok tonight. Christy, I truly hope everything works out fine for you and having all girls is a blessing, just think of all the sleepless nights your husband is going to have when they get older. I always joke with him about that, he says that he's going to chaperone all their dances, etc. and that there father will be the only man in their lives. I always answer , yea thats exactly what my dad said. I'm having my second little girl and am thankful that she is healthy and look forward to a house full of girls.

Hi guys,i'm happy to hear everybody is doing better.Where to start? I went to my docters appointment today and told her all i knew about the issue, and also that if your body is not nearly ready to go into labor the inducing will be a lot tougher and a lot of times it ends up into a c-section.She totally agreed and we decided to see how i'm doing next week friday.she wants to induce me between the first and 8 th of august and we are going by the original due date of august 15.Today she felt my cervix and its just starting to soften but otherwise i dont have any signs of going in to labor soon.I havent lost my mucus plug or anything like it.So i guess it depends on friday where i am but defenetly that week.So i have a max of 2 weeks to go.Today i felt pretty good and i was starving so we went to Chilis and i had the fettuccini alfredo.Of course i had all my pills ready but i was really craving it.It has also been my first decent meal since last week wednesday!!!And so far everything has been fine.it has been 4 hours and no sign of gallstones making my life miserable...which means i'm a very happy camper and so is Jesse,he has moved non stop since 9 am.Anna,i'm sorry charlie's freakin' horses are bugging you. They are hard to get rid off.So far i've been able to keep the stables closed LOL.Tami, this is your moving weekend right? DONT YOU DARE TO LIFT ANYTHING OVER A POUND!!!!! At least after this weekend you will be able to decorate the nursery. How are you doing on that subject Anna? i don't think i've ever asked you what theme your going with.By the way,i really want to thank the both of you on your replies. It feels good knowing that you guys were there for me and understanding what i was going through. But it did help on making my decision on proceding with the inducion. And i'm also happy that we are going to wait for the date till fiday.Oh,hubby wise,he has been with me to all my docters appointments, its just the labor part i'm wanting him to know more about. But today after the appointment we went to the hospital to pre-register and the made us watch a video about childbirth and epidurals which lasted about 20 minutes,so at least he knows some know.heh heh.Christy,i'm sorry to hear you also have gallstones, bright side is you're already 31 weeks along.Maybe you can follow some of the deals i've been through, ask your ob and surgeon about Levsin. They are sublingual pills and they will help your gallbladder relax.I usually take them when i have the first sign of a possible attack. Some times it prevents an attack or if nothing else it will help you fight one together with the Lortab. If the Lortab dont do much for you you may want to request Percocets,i got that tip from tami and they have worked great for me..Well ladies, this was a quik update and i'll be back tomorrow with a little more time.Good night..

ARE YOU GUYS STILL HERE?

Anna - July 26

Hello people, I am doing ok, but I seem to be getting bigger and bigger by the day. I sure hope to level out soon, I can't handle another big baby and since I know this is my last pregnancy I kind of want to enjoy it without going on a diet. I have a question for you gals, have your belly b___ton popped out yet. Mine did, with my first one and I'm kinda thinking this is going to be weird with one of my incisions located inside my belly b___ton.hummmm...it will be not to pretty maybe I can bandaid it down, because it will poke out terribly under my shirts. I hope everyone is doing ok, I of course and dumbfounded about the nursery. I want to go ahead and buy new bedding and stuff like that but want to use the same crib. I have a canopy crib that was customed made and her room is decorated in pinks and whites, with this one I am hoping to decorate it in pastel purple and light green but I have been unable to find a bedding set that matches that and has a canopy available. I bought kidsline the first time around and that caused me around $200. I'm hoping to find something in that price level. If all else fails I'll probably pick something else out and have the canopy custom made. I have a lot to do and think about. Do you have any suggestions?

Shelly - July 26

Hi Anna,to go straight to your bellybotton question i really thought it wasn't going to stick out b/c mine has always been real deep but this last month it went "level" with my basketball belly and since 4 days its trying to pop out some.It feels very tender and everybody that wants to rub my belly is being "instructed to go on the sides.I cant stand being touched there.Did i mention i lost my plug over the weekend?By the way i just loooove the colors you got picked out for the nursery.I think babies r us has the pastel greens and lavender. And you may want to check in Anne Geddes.I know she uses those colors as well. But maybe Tami has a better idea since she is having a girl as well.I'm all "boy"lol.I'm getting pretty excited now (and terrified).I can't believe i'm going to be a mommy!!! But Tami is being a "snob" since she hasn't been writing (just kidding)i know you're busy with the whole moving and stuff.I'm trying to type with my kitty next to me.She is my little spoiled baby and she knows it.I havent been letting any of my pets in the bedroom but tonight i'm doing a little exception for her.She gave me that i'm being neglected look and guilt took over......I'm going to have to share attention with my six kitty's 3 dogs ,new baby and what am i forgetting?Oh yeah my husband.Ouch,he's sitting next to me,hopefully not reading this... Anyways good hearing from you and let me know how the decorating goes. Are your scars healed or are they still itching?I will talk to you all later,oh and i'm excited.we are getting this cool front here in Oklahoma and its going to be 81 degrees tomorrow,i better hunt for my wintercoat!!!

Anna - July 27

I understand about the belly b___ton, mine has yet to poke through but I'm pretty sure it is. I'm glad to here that you are better. I really don't remember losing my plug in the first pregnancy, how is it? Maybe I just can't remember. I hope Tami is taking it easy, I'm sure she's still very busy. I'm starting to worry now about this baby, where is it going to sleep do we have to take more precautions because the 3yr old will want to play with her constantly. I feel huge, I hope my obgyn doesn't tell me I've gain to much weight. I may have to cut back on my eating...since my surgery I've just been eating on the run since now I can do that. I feel like a balloon just inflating day by day. I was looking at bedding, for your teddy bear theme did you go with the set at Wal-mart or Babies-R-US? I was just curious? My incisions are doing rather well and yes they have stop itching, Thank God. I bought some oil from Motherhood that helps will all kinds of itching, especially on nipples, well anywayz. It works great and soothes the skin. I bet it will be great on stretch marks for after birth because that is when they become the most troublesome. Just remember don't scratch because you don't want uglier scars. I understand about forgetting your husband..I'm sure you're going to hear that for the next year a lot. My husband used to complain because I fell asleep everynight with my daughter rested on my chest on the couch. I always danced her to sleep and slept there for the fourth on so on couple of months. I was just scared of rolling over if I slept with her on the bed and after I finally got to the bed she still slept on me. My husband was jealous because she always wanted to sleep with me and rarely with him, but now its totally the opposite when she sleeps with us she wants to be near him and hugging him Now I'm jealous. She turned out to be a total Daddy's little girl.

Wow ladies! It has been awhile. I guess I have a lot to reply to. Well, while I was being a "snob" lol, I was actually working my b___t off moving and setting up a new apartment and cleaning the old one, but finally its over! I will try to make up for ignoring ya'll for the last little while. Oh, I was going to tell you ladies that the apartment building I moved in has eight apartments-all younger couples. Out of the eight women that live in my building FIVE of us are pregnant! Wow, what are the odds? I am afriad this post is going to be a little long, so bear with me! Christy-wow, sounds like you have been having a hard time this pregnancy also! I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply-I have been moving. I am sorry to hear about all the troubles you are having. How far along are you again? I am not sure if you told us that, since it has been so long since I have been on the site. LOL-it has been five days and feels like forever! I guess you will just have to wait and see what your new little girl looks like-maybe the name will just pop out to you! You go to your ob tomorrow, so let me know how that goes! My ob has had other pregnant women with the same problems, so he was pretty rea__suring about it. I am doing pretty good recovering from the surgery now. Moving was nice because they wouldn’t let me carry much-I sat and watched! Well lets see I will be 32 weeks on Friday-time is flying by! This is my first baby and we are having a little girl. We are so excited! My husband is just thrilled to have a baby girl-she is going to be so spoiled. I can understand about your husband and you being together since you were twelve. My husband and I met when we were 12-he is a member of my church and we met there, we lived in the same neighborhood. We were best friends up until we were 17 then started dating. He went on a mission for our church when we were nineteen and we got married 5 ½ months after he got back-when we were 21. I am glad that you and your husband have stuck together. I think a lot of people nowadays find it shocking when “young” people fall in love and it actually works out! Well, let me know how your ob appointment goes! Shelly-how are you feeling? Have the attacks lessened? I sure hope so! Are you going to set an induction date for sure this Friday? I am glad that you have an understanding ob. That must help the situation immensely! So are you completely ready for Jesse to come now? Besides trying to fit everyone else in your family into your time! I think my husband worries that I will forget about him once Kailey is born-I think it might be hectic but I have to a__sure him that I will never forget him! He has been worrying incessantly about everything lately. He asks me if I am okay every couple minutes-it is crazy! Oh the anxieties of a first time father. So how was that beautiful weather you are experiencing in your cold front? I am jealous! It is supposed to be around 97 degrees tomorrow-sweltering. Way too hot to go outside that’s for sure! Oh, we bought our babies crib today, a cherry crib from Babies R US. We had to order it, so I can’t set it up yet. I am going crazy since I want to decorate so bad. My mother-in-law is actually making a baby quilt. She showed it to me last weekend. It is so adorable-has this cute little Noah tending his animals aboard a ship. She is so talented. She told me she plans on making a crib bumper as well. Now I am really getting into the decorating stage. Well, I probably won’t be back again for a couple days-we are going to a family reunion on my husband’s side for a couple of days, so that should be fun. Hope you are not too miserable being this close to the end! I can’t believe you are being induced so soon! That is so exciting! Anna-My belly b___ton is popping out, and it is so gross. If yours pops out this time, then it might be interesting with your incision scar and stuff. Is it itching? My scar has been itching like crazy lately. I think it might have something to do with the heat we’ve been experiencing. I might have to try that oil from motherhood. I am getting desperate for anything to work right now! I can understand about feeling huge-I have gained 5 pounds since my surgery as opposed to only have gained a few pounds my whole pregnancy up to the time I had my surgery. We have been eating fast food so much lately-so unhealthy, but we were running around trying to move and unpack and clean etc. I am glad that my apartment is finally set up so I can actually cook real meals. Have you decided where to put your little girl once she is born? I am doing a Noah’s Ark theme for my little girl’s room. I figure that the next baby will come along while my husband is in law school so I had better get something that will work for a little boy also. My mother in law is making the quilt. I am just going to get little animal decorations and hang them up in twos around the room, and maybe put some stuffed animals on the furniture tops. Its hard to decide what to do though huh? I think she is going to sleep in our room for the first little while though, we are just going to put the crib or a ba__sinet by our bed. I can see how different it would be with another little girl. That is just more worrying and stuff. Well, hope you are feeling better and everything is going great. Let us know what you decide about your nursery.

Shelly - July 28

Hi "snob",glad to hear everything went fine. You must be really excited to have the moving behind you.Now the fun can really begin with the decorating. And yes i'm ready for Jesse to come, hopefully we will do the inducing at the end of next week.(im still scared). But then like saturday night i had an other attack that woke me up at 3:30 am and lasted till 7am then i think lets induce tomorrow. But then after a couple days i think you "forget"about the pain and then i think lets wait a little bit longer. You know what,i think going into labor is the same as the attacks. While you are in pain, its the worse thing that can happen, and time is kind of fuzzy, and when its over you "forget"how painfull it is.At least with the labor you gain a beautifull baby.Anna,i got the blue jean teddy comforter set from walmart, and the blanket and mobile from babies r us.And at my babyshower i got everything else that has to do with it.(i especially love the photoalbum).I'm very happy for you that your incision has stopped itching.I can imagine you being concerned about your little girl wanting to play with the baby, but from what you have told us about her she sounds like i wonderful child and i'm sure she will listen to you. Will they be sharing rooms? Are you going to keep the baby in your bedroom ?I already put the ba__sinet in my room.I think i will keep him in our room the first 3-4 months.I did wash the bedding since i put it in the crib even though he wont be sleeping there for some time. But at least it looks cute, like i pictured the nursery would look like. And i will spend time in the nursery. The glider and changing table are there and his other "belongings"He is already a spoiled little brat lol.I was washing his outfits the other day and my hubby said the kid had more shirts than he did.He also forgets that he is the one that has gone shopping with me and i am Not the only one that put stuff in the cart.......Well ladies,i'm going to see if i can sleep tonight. Its been awfull;i have never suffered from insomnia before until now.good night,

Anna - July 28

Hello ladies, I am doing ok, although this baby still won't get off my bladder. I am not planning on them sharing rooms, we have four bedrooms and I will turn the spare bedroom into the 2nd nursery. I will also keep her in a ba__sinet by my bed for the first couple of months thats what I did. I really loved the ba__sinet after labor because it had wheels and I would just move her from room to room, since they sleep all the time when they are so little. My cuts have finally stopped itching. Thank God. My little girl is getting so exciting she talks to the baby more and more everyday. She even tried to feed the baby a cookie and put it on my belly b___ton for the baby to get it. She's ready to pick out her bedding and give a couple of things to the baby.

Tami - August 1

Hey ladies, how are you all doing? Hope all is well! I just got back from a family reunion on my husband's side. That was an adventure. Staying in a cabin with a bunch of screaming kids-I swear my husband's cousin is the loudest eight year old you could ever meet. It was pretty fun though, just exhausting. I couldn't do much-everyone else went out on the ATV trails all day every day, while I sat back at the cabin with my husband's aunt who is also pregnant, and we watched movies. Real fun huh? We were also the official babysitters since we were already there! It was pretty fun though, nice and cool up in the mountains which was heavenly. Oh, I had a question for you ladies, did or are your feet swelling up? Mine have just started to this last weekend, and I can actually push and make a lovely indentation that stays for awhile. Yuck! Shelly-I bet you are getting so excited! Just a few more days and you will be able to hold your little boy. I bet you can't wait! Hope everythign else is going well. Let me know how you are doing! Anna-Your little girl sounds so adorable. That is cute that she is so excited to be a big sister. I am thinking of using a ba__sinet when my little girl is born for the first little while. That is what seems the easiest from what I have heard. So do you have any other tips for us first time mothers? Hope you are feeling well and feeling better. Has your baby gotten off your bladder yet? My sweet baby loves to stretch out my ribs-ouch! Sometimes I just lay there and try to get her to move becuase it hurts so bad, but she is just so stubborn! I say she must take after her father. Well, hope all it going well for you! How far along are you now?

Shelly - August 2

Hopefully tomorrow i will have more time, yhis is the first day since friday that i'm even on the internet.Hopefully tomorrow i will find out more on when we are going to induce, yes i have bad swollen feet it started at 32 weeks and this oklahoma weather does not help any either, and of course i'm really "nesting' right now, my hubby calls it being psycho lol.i will also use a ba__sinet in my bedroom, did wash the crib bedding even if its going to be a while before Jesse will sleep in there. And i still hate my gallstones. You guys take care and i'll be back on here tomorrow evening XXXShelly

Shelly - August 3

Well ladies;its official;Monday 08/08/05 will be Jesse's birthday.I went to my appointment today and she had already everything arranged.I will go in the hospital on sunday evening around 6:00 pm and they will give me something to soften my cervix and than on monday morning they will start on pitocin to get my contractions started.Aaaaagh!!!!!!!!! Pretty scary and exciting. My doc guessed that i will probably deliver by late afternoon /evening.It all depends how its going.I dialated 1cm and my cervix is a lot softer than 10 days ago but needs more. The baby has dropped a lot wich really explains all the new pressure i've been having "down there".She told me she will come and see me sunday evening, monday morning and be with me in the late afternoon. She is really nice and spend some time explaining a bunch of stuff and answering all the many questions i had.I did tell her about the other one from friday with her kneereflex test and she just looked at me like:you must be kidding and started laughing.Well thats how i felt.Still dont get it but its funny in a odd kind of way.Anyways, the docter that will be there all day knows everything about me and my semi precious stones,so they will keep a close eye on it.I do think i will be in good hands. She also thinks i will do well, according to her i have a good "body frame"and something about my pelvis bone???being ok,whatever that may be,but i should be able to have a v____al delivery.Jesse is in the right possition and he don't look too big.I havent gained or lost any weight in the past 3 weeks, which thats another plus.Sigh:) i cant believe its actually going to happen in a couple days.Wow,i'm going to be officialy a MOMMY.I'm sorry for rateling all about myself tonight,i guess "i'm full of myself LOL'.I will be able to go home either tuesday night or wednesday morning,of course it depends on how everything goes.Ok,enough about me,how are you guys doing?Hope to hear fast from you all,and please think about me monday when i'm "suffering".I'll check with you guys later.

Anna - August 4

Hello ladies, I hope everyone is doing ok. Tami, I hope the heat hasn't started to irritate your incision cut. I went to my husband's company picnic yesterday, and I am paying for it now. It was so hot, and my cuts are majorly bothering me today. But my husband had a great time showing off his little girl and explaining to everyone that its was a good thing to have all girls. He said something about how he knows how women will eventually dominate the world, he wants to have his foot in the door with two of tomorrow's leaders. See, I have trained him well, I am so proud. LOL. Shelly, I am so excited about Monday. August 8th sounds like a good birthday. I will be thinking of you and little Jesse all weekend long. I hope everything goes well and that you set a record for fastest first delivery ever. I hope to hear everything about it. Make sure you get enough sleep and rest and eat big meals so you will have tons of energy. Its going to be to sleep though knowing that he's around the corner.

Tami - August 4

Shelly-Congratulations! I am excited for you. Hey, before you know it, it will be over and you will be a mommy! We will be thinking of you on Monday. I am somewhat envious that you get to hold your little baby so soon! I am sure that everythign will be alright, and it sounds like you are in good hands. I still can't believe that other doctor checked your knee reflex-that is the most random thing I have ever heard! Well good luck if you don't get back on before then! I am looking forward to hearing your birth story. Anna-yes, the heat is drving me crazy where my scar is. I go walking every day and I pay for it after when my scar is itchy and red and swollen. on the days I stay inside there is no problem! Yep, sounds like you have your husband nice and trained! That is just too cute how he adores your little girl, and of course will adore your new one. Well, I am goign to go set up our crib-it finally came! Now I can try to start decorating our nursery. I have a baby shower on Saturday, so I am excited to see what we get for our baby girl. So far we have a crib, a few little outfits and some onesies-that won't get us far! Hope you are doing well. I will talk to you later!

Shelly - August 5

Hi ladies, tought i wouldn't be back till next week huh?Hey, i still got 4 evenings of pregnancy left.Time is going by really fast now.And Jesse is sooo active.I really thought that it would slow down being this far along but nope,he keeps kicking and "swimming" from one side to the other.Oh, i promise that i will post pictures of my little man on the internet.Maybe in his newborn Oklahoma Sooners outfit? With tiny wooden shoes (that would be the dutch part of course). So Tami, getting ready for decorating the nursery huh? That is so much fun.I actually really enjoyed doing Jesse's laundry. It's so cute to fold those tiny outfits.Did you register for your shower? You are having 2 right? And Anna, i think you got your hubby very well trained.Maybe you can give me some tips? And yeah ;i think woman shoud dominate the world.I think we can do a much better job LOL.Sorry to hear about your incisions,i can imagine the heat not helping any with that. What kind of lotion are you putting on it?Oh,thanks for wishing me a record delivery,i'm kind of hoping for the same but to be very realistic i'm not counting on it.I'm not going to be negative, but i'm just going to count on a 30 hour labor, with gallstone attack, all very painfull and end up with a c-section.So anything less than that will be just a blessing. As long as my baby is healthy everything else is peanuts right? Well ladies, good night and i'll be back tomorrow evening.
