Hi ladies, well i went to the doctor yesterday, and I had my IUD removed.....I am glad that i did, as soon as it was taken out, the pain stopped....I feel so much better....after discussing the situation further with my doctor, she said it sounds like my body was beginning to reject the IUD as a foreign object, even though it had been in for 3 years, or the hormones were beginning to be too much for my uterus....either way i am glad that it came out....something else i learned was that normally the IUD is used for women who have heavy bleeding and bad cramping during their menstrual cycle.....So i found it kind of strange that i did not have any of those problems and my doctor before her talked me into getting it saying it would be a good for of b-control for me....I must say that I was not very pleased with the IUD and I myself would not recommend anyone else to get it....I am now back on a low estrogen b-control pill, so things should go back to normal soon....So for all the ladies who are having problems, don't wait....go see a dr....make sure that everything is okay...it is obvious that this form of birth control, may cause serious problems....feel free to email me if you ahev any questions....ariel22485@yahoo.com...my prayers are with everyone of you.... Tanya...

I also have a Mirena IUD and I am 16 weeks pregnant. I found out at about 8 weeks and the doctor was unable to remove the IUD. My pregnancy has been going ok so far. I am just advised to take it easy and relax as much as possible (with a 2 yr old already). I also had lost about 40 pounds and then got pregnant. So I would advise anyone with an IUD to consult your doctor before and during a weight loss program to ensure the IUD remains in place. I am worried because of the higher risks a__sociated with the IUD in place, but my doctore has said that he has heard of babies being delivered holding the IUD when they are born.

hi Christen your story sounds like mine.. I am also pregnant with the mirena IUD, many women are getting prego with it.. i had lost 75 pounds when i found out i was pregnant i am now 17.3 weeks so far so good! :) God willing we will deliver our healthy babies.. Now i have a question.. have you asked your doctor about the hormones in the IUD and it affecting the baby? i often worry about this but have not asked my doctor about it..

Christen - October 12

Ethi, I actually have asked my doctor about the hormones and he says that there is nothing to worry about as far as the hormones go. Mirena releases levonorgestrel which has no known long term affects on children born/conceived while the Mirena was in place. There are no higher risks of congenital anomalies at birth for the babies either. My doctor told me that the hormones really are not the risk-factor, but not many studies have been conducted because of so few deliveries with the IUD left in place for the entire pregnancy. My doctor has been really great about checking everything out and answering all of my questions. I am so paranoid :) It is nice to hear from someone out there in my same situation. Best of luck to you with your pregnancy and I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Ethi, I'm 32wks pg with mirena iud,my obs told me if the babys a boy it should be ok but if its a girl it could have an enlarged c___toris not confirmed though it seems it mat effect a female but not a male baby.

I think that there are 2 Jennifer's so I will go by Jennifer T. Kisha, are you asking me about my IUD or the other Jennifer. I am the one with a 5 year old and a 1 year old. I found out that I was pregnant because I kept getting sick. I would throw up occasionally and I felt like I was having gall bladder problems. I went to the ER and they did labs and then they told me that I was preg. I never expected that diagnosis. I was about 9 weeks when I found out. Thing is, I had a period before I found out. I spotted the first trimester, but so far so good.

Well I have the paraguard iud. I had it out in because the paragaurd has no hormones in and and I needed a birth contro that had no hormones so this was the only affective one at the time. Well I have had it for 2 yrs now. My son is two also. I am 11 days late on my period. I took a preg test and it messed up no results. Figures. Last Wed night I had some severe cramps and pain in my v____al area. It started as little c___ps so I thought I was going to start my period, but as I got up The pain got so severe that I went to the ground and started to cry. I call my husbands aunt who is a nurse and she recomended that I soak in a hot bath and then use a heating pad. I hurt for 4 days. It got better towards the 4th day I still had to use a heating pad. Right now I have the pain ever once in a while but not as bad. I am nausous from time to time. Ito this day I have not started my period and the are no symptoms of my period going to start. I have always been regular. the last time I had no period was when I found out I was preg with my son. I wouldn't mind having another one but it will be a very great risk for me if I am even with out the IUD. I have a brain tumor and it hasn't grown since my surgery, which I had when I was 25 weeks preg with my son. That it why I got the iud inthe first place because this one had no hormones which can cause growth. I can get another test until Friday with it being payday. I just wish I knew what to do because Me and my hubby we would like to have another and we were palnning on getting my iud out soon anyways. I would just have to have my checkup on my tumor every 3 months. I don't mean to berambling I have read all of the posts becasue I was looking for answers. Last month I had feelings of pregnancy. I just thought I was. I told my hubby about it and I took test and neg results. so more thoughts about it but now I am 11 days late and counting.

Hi all, well, i'm 6 days late. I have the Mirena. I've had it for 2 1/2 years. I'm never late. Took a pregnancy test over the weekend, and it said it was negative. Not sure what to do.

Adrienne - October 18

Hello everyone. I had my IUD implanted a little over 3 years ago after the birth of my youngest daughter. Lately, I have been feeling nauseous and sore, so I went to my PCP to see what was wrong. Initially all my urine work came back fine. However, they called me back a few hours later and said that my pregnancy test may be positive. I have taken two home tests and still negative. Waiting impatiently for my bloodwork to come back to see if I am or not. Was planning on having a baby obviously, however, am concerned about a miscarriage. If I am pregnant I am only around 3 weeks or less. Does anyone know what the odds are of the baby surviving the IUD removal? Good luck to all of us on this forum

Adrienne - October 18

Oops ment wasn't planning on having a baby. See above response.

Karen - October 18

I had a Merina IUD put in in July of 2005 and I think I am pregnant. But I am nervous about taking a test but alot of you said that you get a negative response anyway so I should go to my dr. I am so worrid though.

Adrienne - October 18

NOT Pregnant....wow what a stress off my shoulders. I would definately go and get a blood test done anyways, just to make sure. The earlier you know with an IUD the better. Good Luck to all
