I have a Mirena IUD. Just got it over five weeks ago. NOw i am two weeks late and have pregnanct symptoms too. HPY shows negative. Im not convinced. Cant' see the doctor til the middle of January. Maybe Im being paranoid.. but i already have a little boy and i know what it feels like to be pregnant. Is it possible to get pregnant on the Mirena IUD nad still show a negative HPT??

Most IUD pregnancy's happen within the first year. Most of them happen in the first three months due to the fact is is a forgien object.Being it has only been five weeks bett safe then sorry. It could just be your period may dissaper right away.Find a anther doctor who can see you earlier. If you are not pregnant it could be out of place and you could get pregnant before your appointment. Also yes you can get a negitive reading and still be pregnant.

I had my Mirena IUD put in in June. I have spotted and had heavy periods ever since. Well, monday, my IUD fell out!!! Since last week I have been having many symptoms of being pregnant. I will try to take a test tomorrow but I am stil bleeding. Anyone ever have the IUD fall out, or been pregnant with constant bleeding?

To Maimie: Maimie Ihave heard of it happening before. You should take a pregnancy test or call your doctor. I only heard good things about the IUD and then I got one and now all i ever here are bad things. I thought IUDs were supposed to be great?!?! My doctor told me that they were as effective as geting your tubes tied. Now all i hear is people who are pregnant on them.. A lot of people are saying they have pregnancy symptoms but are not actually positive that they are pregnant. just they feel it ( myself included). I am wondering if anyone out there knows if the IUD causes symptoms of pregnancy?... im already two weeks late with my period now....

What hormonal b/c does is trick your body to think you are pregnant so you don't ovulate.Yes,you can hav pregnancy sympotoms and not be pregnant. My friend had this happen to her the first three months she was on the ring.If you think about it is just as affective as getting your tubes tied.Look at how many woman are getting pregnant after having them tied.Talk about a disspointment.I was think about it but I'm glad I didn't.

well its been OCT 27th since my last meriod so that makes it almost 2 months since my period. I know Im not pregnant because I took a pregnancy test, So I wonder about this thing. I dont have the hormonal one either. I have the copper one which they say causes heavier periods and more cramping, which is usually right for me except latlely with all the problems. I also wonder i think more woman are getting pregnant with the merena instead of the copper one, but also maube more woman with the merena have found this site instead of the women with the copper oone. anyways I want to get the IUD taken out except It is keeping me from getting pregnant. I am soo bad with a pill and tha patch I dont like. SO needless to say I really dont want another baby so thats why this is a hard decision to make. The IUD had only been great in preventing me from getting pregnant and thats about it, otherwise its a pain in the a__s. well girls have a good day. AND an answer to that guestion, has anyone ever been pregnant and bleeding. Yes a girl on this web site was bleeding and pregnant, her IUD was falling out and she went and found out she was pregnant. they had to take the IUD out the rest of the way. Anyways she was bleeding for a long time, eventually it stopped but then she unfortuanltly had a misscarriage. Just check again later to be sure!

I think more woman on this have the mirena because it does cause periods to go haywire. They didn't relize how they would when it happened. With the copper IUD you know when to get your period. Also IUD's have been around for decades.(mirena for 15 years in other countries)Up until 2000 doctors would put them in anyone. Now doctors will not do that.I had mine done at a woman hospital where they have a unit that only does IUD's.I think some doctors are still putting them in anyone still and being they have gained popularity you have more pregnancy.good luck to everyone!

I am new to this forum. I have a copper IUD and have really liked it. This year I have had alot of irregular bleeding. I bled for all of Febuary and March, with 2 weeks of light bleeding in November, and gained 25 pounds. I went to the DR. for hormonal troubles. I was wondering at what point do you decide to take a pregnancy test? I don't think that is what is going on with me, I had normal periods for 1 1/2 years with this IUD. Any thoughts?

I had my IUD out last month and this is my first period after removal and I had almost NO cramps. The flow was not much less, but there was almost no PAIN!!!!!! I cannot believe that I put up with the cramping that lasted all month long and the horrible heavy flow and all the other c___p that goes along with it. I will give it this though....I did not get pg on it (well at least not one that stuck). I had the paraguard (10 year copper one). Take care

Julie, I would never even second guess a pregnancy test. Its always best to know or not. And if its negative dont think you still are because they are pretty accurate. Sometimes the mind start tripping and that messes up your hormones and Im sure you know what Im talking about most all women do. As for me still no period no signs of it starting and Oct 27th was my last. I took it about 2 weeks ago and it was negative. So im not tripping that Im pregnant im tripping that my body just cant handle this foreign object and that its going to be taken out. Like ive said before, the only think I like about this thing is it is keeping me from getting pregnant, so who knows what will happen. Anyways girls take care and I hope everything works out for every body.

Tina - December 19

Alicia -- Actually not all pregnancy tests are accurate. I have a three year ols boy and when i thought i was pregnant with him i took a test. I was already past my period and having pregnancy symptoms. It was a test that cost about 10 dollars.. not a great test i guess. ANyway the test came back negatvie. I waited until the next day, bought a new test of a diffferent brand and instantly got a positive result. So if i had never gotten the second test i would have thought that I was not pregnant. I also know people who have been pregnnt and have gotten negative pregnancy tests as well. So I think a mothers instinct is as reliable if not more reliable than a pregnancy test. I go to the doctor tomorrow since i am not alsmost three weeks late with an IUD and seeing what is going on.. not sure if its normal to have late periods when you first get an IUD or not.. but i do know that i have never been so nauseous in my life.. if this continues the IUD will be coming out soon!!

Alicia - December 19

Tina, I know Pregnancy test can be wrong, I said they are pretty accurate, not full proof, When I said never second guess a pregnancy test, i meant as in take one dont wait because you think that you are not pregnant that is better to know then not know. And I am saying that iv noticed alot of women think they are pregnant even after taking 4 pregnancy test, even blood ones, it starts to get ridiculous, obviously there are women where the hormoned doesnt show up. Also tons of women have wrote on here that the merina lets off hormones so sometimes you think you are pregnant, even though the actuality of it is not that common. I dont mean to be rambling which I am im just saying and I will say it again, I know pregnancy test arent always accurate they are 99% as well as the IUD. nothing is 100% in life. Anyways Tina how long have you had your IUD? And what kind is it? I think its pretty normal for your period to be whacky for the first couple months with the IUD because its a foreign object and your body is trying to get used to the IUD of having something there:) anyways girls have a good day.

Rosie - December 19

Hey girls. I had a question. I have had my mirena iud since March 2005. I have had irregular periods since then, one month every 38 days, the next month every 45 days, the next month after 33 days. I am at 40 days today and last week had 2 days of cramping, which I thought was turning into my period. But I never got it! I'm feelinga bit heavy in the uterine area. I checked my strings and could feel them. I tood a hpt this morning and it came back negative. Could it be that i am pregnant or something else? I have 4 kids and am well aware of pregnancy symptoms, but this is my first time with an iud. What are the symptoms of pregnancy with an iud? And how long should i wait for my period to come since its been so inconsistent?

Tina - December 19

To Rosie -- i am wondering the same thing. I go tomorrow to my doctor and then i will post to let people know what she said is normal with the Mirena IUD. I got mine November 7th and have never hada period yet. Some web sites say that you are supposed to have longer and heavier periods for the first 3-6 months and then they gradually decrease until they may even turn into nothing. but other websites say that they may disappear right away. I had cramping right up unitl thisweek with this IUD. and i am very tired and nauseous. DOnt know if this is a side effect of this thing or if it is something more. I am also feeling very full in the uterine area and can only wear gym pants because of the swelling. is this normal with an IUD??.. rosie.. i researched onliine for signs of prgnancy when have an iud and the signs are pretty much the same as if you had no IUD. Alongwith not being able to feel the strings and missing a period or a very light period...

Tina - December 19

Alicia, Its a mirena IUD and i got it in November. Haven't had a period yet. Almost 7 weeks now. dont know if this is normal. I have never been able to feel the strings. I go tomorrow to talk to her and get a re-check..
