I to am pregnant with the IUD. I was 6 weeks along when I figured it out. I DID NOT was more children. I have an eating dissorter and get depression realy bad for several months after my last two children were born. My doctor told me he would be shocked if I got pregnant. Hes still shocked, Im 33 weeks now. After talking to a couple nurses, I found it is very commen to get pregnant with an IUD. And to answer your question, the IUD should come out, but it would depend on the cercomstances. Get a second opinion! I had to change doctors to have a V-back and that was their biggest concern, they wanted to make sure the Ius was out. Miscarriage is always a possability. So is the risk of the IUD puncturing important parts. I was actually bleeding internally from the IUD. Doc thought I would miscarry. Im nervouse for family and friends. I recomended this product and several has the IUD implanted. Hope better luck for them.

Wow!!! Iam amazed at the amount of people getting pregnant with the IUD in . Isnt that a frightening fact. So, whats the point of having it in. Dear Britney, before any infections set in, get a second opinion and have it removed. Would you rather suffer the infection with a baby inside or suffer a miscarriage. I hope you wont have to go through that. But i believe that infection can occur. Dont take chances. This is the big game between the doctor and the insurance office. They would rather take the money , than take care of the patient. What a world. Like some one suggested..there are state funded programs..please go ahead and look for it. Iam also a victim of it. Iam 8weeks pregnant. The nurse removed my IUD then and there, She did a v____al check-up and voila its not even tubal..the baby is well in the uterus and i saw the heartbeat of the baby. I have a 2 daughters 8 and just turning 1. I had my first IUD placed in India and that worked well for 5 years when i decided to have another baby. I got it removed and it took me another year and a half to get pregnant. And look at the situation here. With the IUD in itself you get pregnant. Is this an IUD to "get pregnant" or what I wonder. What can we all do about it. Instead of it being 99% effective..i guess its only 1% effective and 99% chance of getting pregnant. Something big has to be done about this. Good luck to you britney!

I'm starting to get worried.... I have had the IUD for a year now. I had the initial spotting for about three weeks after placement, but since then I have had nothing. Now, one year later, I am having a heavy period. Is this normal? I have the mirena- has this happened to anyone else?

I am also pregnant with an IUD in place. I found out when I was 8 weeks along. I was having lots of bleeding so I went in to get the Mirena IUD removed. They could not find it, so they did an ultrasound to locate it and that is when I first saw my baby's heartbeat. I had decided to get the IUD removed as is recommended, but when the specialist went in (using hysteroscopy to see better) they determined that it would be too dangerous for baby. I am now in my nineteenth week of pregnancy and every day is very hard on me and my whole family. I am so worried that the hormones in the Mirena will affect my baby. There is no guarantee that they won't, and not enough history to determine my baby's risks. I would never, ever get an IUD again....much less one that releases hormones. Even if it was 99.9 percent effective, I don't feel that it is moral to put a birth control out there that may well have detrimental effects to the baby and/or mother when it fails. I have a 17 year old, a 14 year old and a 10 month old, who was quite a shock as it was....that's why my husband and I decided to go with such an "effective birth control"....we love all our children very very much and wouldn't change anything for the world, but this waiting and worrying is agonizing and it is simply not right to put any baby at such risk....I feel your pain and wish you well. My thoughts keep coming back to if this baby was conceived against all odds, well then it must have been meant to be and God will watch over it....Good Luck and God Bless..... PS I am looking for anyone out there that has given birth with IUD in place...if you're out there, please share your experience....

I have had my mirena in since March 07...& had a miscarriage in April...was on my period almost 2months straight...I thought this contraption was supposed to be 99% fool proof...now I'm debating on getting back on the pill. :/ I'm afraid of getting pregnant again & having another miscarriage; very tough to handle emotionally.

I don't have a solution. Only a question. I have had the Minera* since December. I have not always checked it, but I did check it a couple of weeks (maybe a month) ago, and then again today. The strings feel shorter, but I don't know if its just the angle I was at or what. Heres the real problem. I think I am supposed to start this week. I cramped and was pretty sick to my stomach the 26th, 27th and 28th and then thought for sure I was going to start Thursday. But I only spotted for a few hours. Now I'm back to normal, no signs of starting. I know this IUD can cause your periods to taper off...have any of you had this happen?

I got a miera put in November 2006, I havent bled since the initial insertian bleeding from the IUD. I stopped b___stfeeding in April, and on easter spotted for a day, and then for the past 3 days been bleeding. I have gained around 3 pounds in teh past week, have to pee constantly and just that blah feeling. The blood is more like tissue, and looks kinda like skin (sorry for the TMI) Also the strings seem alot shorter. Should I take a test? Thanks for the info!

Hi. Everything I have read is really scaring me. I have had an iud in for about 6 months now. Everything has been going ok until this month. I have been really emotional, tired, my b___st look like they have gotten larger and I didn't have a period like I normally do. I just had some light spotting for about 3 days and my husband and I think I might be pregnant. We already have two kids a two year old and a 7 month old and I am scared to death right now.

I have been checking this site non-stop! I have had a Paraguard for a couple months and the other day I started feeling weird about 5 days after I had s_x on the day I was ovulating...the same way I felt just 5 days after I concieved last time. Has anyone else here experienced getting sick soon after concieving, I mean having cold/flu symptoms shortly after concieving? I had this experience both times I got pregnant....feels like I have a bad cold .I have heard that often women get sick because there is something foriegn moving through the body-the fertilized egg, and the body thinks it is a pathogen or bug and women get sick for a few days. I thought I was crazy for thinking I am preggo but this site says otherwise.....I'm having all the symptoms but it is too early for a test. Would like to hear from you guys about your experiences and know about my getting sick question! wish you all the best!

I have had the copper IUD for a little over a year. I have an 18 month old baby girl, but I wanted to wait until she was at least 3 to try for another one. When I went in for a follow checkup post IUD insertion, my doctor said she could not feel the string so we had to do an ultrasound. It was in place, but she told me I had to come back every year to check it was there. This made me nervous, becuase how do I know if it's NOT there?! What if it moves and I am oblivious? And then there's the risk of pregnancy, etc. Well... my PMS symptoms have been significantly worse since I have had the IUD. I definitely bleed a lot more, and bloating and mood swings start about 2 weeks before my period. It's awful. Anyway, I just had my period a couple of weeks ago, and I can't tell if I'm just being paranoid, but I am sitting here with terrible back aches and cramps. And then I started reading all of these posts, and I am completely HORRIFIED that there are so many women out there who have become pregnant on this birth control method that is supposidly 99.9% effective. I have had severe bloating the past few days, dull back aches, slight cramping, and now my nipples are sore! And come to think of it... I think i cried while watching something on Sesame Street today!! The thing is, this could very well be paranoia. I coudl be tricking myself into thinking I really am prego. PMS symptoms are quite similar to pregancy symptoms. That said, I felt like my period just ended. I am calling my OB in the morning and post a followup. I think these message boards are great so that other women around the country and the world can see what REAL people are experiencing. It's quite frightening... you can't trust everything your prescription labels say.

I have had the mirena for 1 year. My OBGYN appt was on the 2nd of august and everything was fine. Since then I have had to pee alot, Cramps, Nausea, Back ackes, Fatigue and my lower area feels sore and sometimes hard. Is this normal? I took test week ago even though period is not due till August 18th and it was negative. Retook it couple of days ago too but it was negative. Any Idea? Is this normal with Mirena? Today I had pin size drops of blood for an hout but nothig more. My cramps are not like the ones I usually have all the time with mirena.
