OMG! All I can say is this info has got me in a PANIC!! I have 2 girls, ages 5 & 3 and have had my Mirena for 3 years now. It has worked great for me. No complications, side effects, etc except that I have not had a period in 2.5 YEARS. Yes, that's YEARS ladies! I very rarely worry about getting pregnant..After all, these things are pretty much idiot proof! (or atleast I thought they were, until now) But the last 3 weeks have got me worrying..Started with b___st tenderness, which I get from time to time anyway...But then heartburn, nausea, a tender abdomen and even FLUTTERY feelings! I am scared to death that I may be pregnant because I do not want a child at this time. My long-time boyfriend (6 years) and I have been on a 'break' but still sleeping together. We live in different states and I just have a lot going for me right now. Of course, all things happen for a reason, but just hoping and praying that I am not. Do you think it's possible for me to get prego when I haven't had a period in SO LONG?? Shouldn't the lining be completely gone so nothing for the egg to attach to? HELP!! Going to buy a pregnancy test tomorrow...Can't take the stress anymore!

Wow...Talk about weird..My first visit, first posting on this site, and check out the posting that is right above my two from Andrea...TOO COINCIDENTAL!!! I forgot to add that my number on my card is exactly the same as ETHI...I wonder if they are all the same? Mine is 5221609/1...Hmmmmm...got me thinking for sure, guys!

I just wanted to post a reply to my previous post. I didnt' have a decision to make, I went in for another opinion; they said there was no longer a heart beat and that my cervix was dialated. I went ahead with a D&C that day to get everything "overwith" and try to move on. Thank you all for your post and support though...I have a picture of that beautiful baby that I will keep FOREVER!!! Good luck to all of you!!!! My prayers are with you!

hi girls..im sorry Erin about the end of your pregnancy.. Heather..i wonder if all the numbers are the same.? I have the feeling that this IUD are deffective. I wonder what ever happened to Lori the original poster? ummm anybody know? Well this Saturday i will be 36 weeks, and i am so glad, i am still prego, and things are going fine. Good luck to you all

Yeah, I wish more people on here had their numbers off of their little cards...Interesting that three of us have the same one. I took a test this afternoon and it was thankfully negative, but I am such a hypochondriac that I bought a 3 pack so I can take one with 'morning' pee..haha Still feeling really...off. That's the best way I can describe it. I have two girls and I know what it feels like to be prego, but I am hoping that my body is just freaking out because I haven't MENSTRUATED in 3 years..haha. Wish me luck in the am. P.S. Glad to hear that you are doing well, Ethi. Kind of puts a light at the end of the tunnel if I find out I AM. Although most of these stories end in heartbreak. :(

I had the other kind of IUD (lasts 7 yrs) up until last winter and had absolutely no problems. I loved it and recommended it to all my girlfriends. But a yr ago a new OBGYN suggested I try the Mirena and I am 11 days late and feeling the way I did w/ my first pregnancy. I did a home test last night and it was negative, but the nurse told me to wait a week and then if I still have not started, to schedule a blood test. Which relieved me a bit, but when I started reading about all of the pregnancies that have happened w/ the Mirena, I admit I am a little freaked. I wonder how many of the women that posted that they were late, actually were pregnant and how common it is to be late.

Hi can someone tell me what these card numbers are im real baffled by what Heather is saying. Also Kei im now 23wks preg with the Mirena coil til fitted i never actully fell pregnant on he Mirena coil i was already pregnant when the coil was fitted, i didnt have a period for 2mths and then sudden bleeds with clots and i was a size 10 til on my diet and i went up to a size 12 piling on the weight i took a pregnancy test were i was shocked it was a BFP i only had my 2nd son in the MArch 05 & my 1st son in Dec 03 i had a scan were i was told not to expect anything as you might of miscarried by my shock baby was 10+1 told i was due the 14th June 06 and the coil was til there baby right underneath the coil, the doctor tried to remove the coil but baby had tuck the string up so coil remained inside me, i was told i wouldnt get pa__sed 15-20wks of pregnancy but baby is til doing fine even thou i do have bleeds coming from no were she is doing gr8 she is very healthy. I would take the blood test because they are 100% accurate. Plz tell us how you get on x

I had my IUD put in a couple months ago due to some major weight gain from Depo....I am now seriously regretting this choice. I have three beautiful little boys, my youngest being 10 months old and my husband and I would very much like to have another child in the future (probably around 4-5 years.....when the IUD is scheduled to come out) but not right now. I had complications with my previous child (the placenta had detached slightly early in the pregnancy) and I had to leave my job. I am a CNA, so obviously I could not continue to work as one. My husband is an immigrant (from England) and we are STILL in the process of going through all those forms and he still does not have a work visa. Needless to say, we had to move into my parent's house in order to get by. I am now working part-time as a CNA again and going to school full time in order to get my RN. My husband still cannot work but should be able to in the next couple of months. It's hard to get back on your feet once you get knocked off...so we are still living with my parents. I am a little worried after reading all these countless stories of IUD pregnancies, especially since I found this site because I have been wondering lately if I, myself, am pregnant. I haven't been feeling like myself lately. Been really overly tired, moody, and my b___sts have been overly tender and getting that "pins and needles" feeling. Ladies who have b___stfed before know the feeling well when their milk starts to come back in after feeding. I don't have periods since they had pretty much stopped since the depo shot. I will occasionally spot but that's about it. I really really do not want another baby right now. I mean, really who would in my situation? Not only would it not be fair to add another burden to my children (since our money is kinda tight) but my parents would KILL me. They are nice enough to let us live here while we get back on our feet but everyone has limits and bringing another child into this world when we can't even afford to live out on our own is one of those limits. But the really scary part is, is that if I am pregnant....I want this baby. I really truly WANT this baby and all the things that I am reading scare me. I know that I should take a test and the sooner the better but it's hard to get over some of the fears. Does anyone know if a lawsuit is even possible? I was told by my OB/GYN that she has never had an IUD pregnancy and that it was perfectly safe and perfect for my lifestyle. I'm now considering something different if I am not pregnant. Like I said, I DO want another child and if I am pregnant now, want this one but if I'm not....why take the risk??? The pill is out of the question for me since I never remember to take it and depo made me gain unreasonable amounts of weight (especially since I had gained a lot during the pregnancy). My OB/GYN told me that I could be on the patch but I've heard from other doctor's that they don't recommed it if you are overweight. I was on it before and loved it but that was back in the day when I was really thin, but now I'm about 55 pounds overweight. So I'm at a loss of what to do no matter what the situation. If I'm not pregnant, do I remove the IUD and try another method (and then there's the question as to what method)? And if I am pregnant....do I leave the IUD in and take a chance or take it out and take a chance? I'm wishing that I have never put this thing in in the first place.

Heather - February 19

Hey girls...So I've taken 3 tests over the last 4 days, all completely negative. No faint line when you turn it right in the light or anything. Usually when I suspect that I'm pregnant, if I take a test and it's negative, my symptoms go away, as if it was all in my head. Well this time, I can't SHAKE IT!! My b___bs are becoming MORE tender, lower abdomen is tender, spotting during intercourse (kind of a brownish tint to it)...Just lots of FUNKY stuff that are not helping to ease my mind! Any of you that are still on here that turned up pregnant..Did you take negative tests in the beginning? I hate to be overly paranoid but I just don't feel right!! Any and all thoughts would be great! P.S. Gemma, if you have a Mirena IUD, you should have been given a little 'appointment/warranty card'...On the back on the bottom is a number. That's what I'm talking about.

crale70 - February 19

Well, I must say that none of this thread is making me feel very secure. I found it by googling 'pregancy' and 'IUD' so I could ease my mind about my symptoms. I've had the Mirena since 4/02 and last night we were at a party and I took the first sip of my drink and felt immediately ill-ish...tried a different, sweeter drink...nope, my stomach was still telling me that this was NOT a good idea. Ate a few nibbles of things and then got the same queasy feeling. Sat for a while because my lower back was aching a lot. Since getting the IUD I have NOT gotten periods...just a little spotting every 3-4 months (for a day) and last week I had spotting that went on longer than usual. Headaches are pretty frequent (thought it was sinus problems) and have had some diarrhea early in the week(considered food poisoning). I have 3 children and was NOT planning on any others (hubby will be getting snipped soon). I am really getting panicked and guess I'll be buying a HPT today. Was considering being a gestational surrogate for a friend but I guess that plan is on the back burner for now. Good luck to everyone, 'Crale'

kamala - February 20

I have had a Mirena IUD since Sept '04. I have two children 10 and 7. I have experienced tons of naseau, odd emotions, etc. If I did not know better, i would say I am pregnant. I have felt this way for several months. I have had super light bleeding (like one day). I know the longer you have an IUD, the more effective they become. I have yet to take a test due to the bleeding makes me forget, then it starts all over. I am wondering if anyone has become prengnant with an IUD that has been in place for more than one or two years?

Ethi - February 20

Kamala..read the post..most of us have.. I had it for over two years, I am now 36 weeks pregnant.. good luck

kamala - February 20

Ethi, did you happen to have naseau and the "normal" side effects of the IUD, or did you experience them just when you "felt" pregnant?

Ethi - February 20

Kamala.. im sorry to tell you that i didnt even know i was prego, but i got a horrible cold, and doc wanted to make sure that i was not prego before i got more meds., and low and behold i was positive on my preg test.. My IUD is still in my uterus, and thank God it hasnt interfere with the growth of the baby..

kamala - February 20

well, my luck, i will be. i have gone thru a divorce and am dating a man who has "fertility" problems. he is okay with having no natural children. i am sure because of timing in life, it will happen. but then again, because i would possibly be excited by it, i will not be prego. man....i sound crazy
