hi Ashley, just reread your posting (after seeing the others). i guess in spite of th neg blood test, i should repeat it if i don't get my period soon (within 2-3?). ashley, if you start to have stomach pain - don't wait - get checked immediately for ectopic pregnancy. otherwise all we can do is wait for the next test or the next period, whichever comes first. Hello Ladies. I have had my Mirena in for about 1 year and 9 months. My periods seemed to come at about every 3.5 weeks or earlier the intire time I have had the IUD. Now, I think I am about 12 days late and I am having all the symptoms. I took a hpt 4 days ago and it was negative. I finally called the Doc's office today and it seemed to me as if they played it off like it was no big deal. I was told to go in for the blood hcg in 3 days. Now, I am starting to have some abdominal pain and still no period. My hubby and I are very worried. Do you guys think I should go to another Doc like tomorrow? I am so glad to know there are others out there who are experiencing this. My poor husband must think I am getting pregnant on purpose - our last one happened while I was on the pill. If anyone has any recommendations, please drop me a line. Thanks.

Hiya tot137. i'm getting the impression from my research (here, online, drs) that although late periods are no big deal, even with pregnancy symptoms, eventually it gets confirmed as being a pregnancy, or you get your period - BUT if you have any reason to suspect ectopic (eg - abdominal pains) - do not delay - get checked out until the source of the pain is found. (these are my personal conclusions after a week of hellish stress that i couldn't explain to my kids). God bless.

Thanks Batya. I took another hpt this morning and negative again. The pain seems to have subsided some since yesterday, but I will keep a check on it. I'll let you know what happens.

Hey Batya, thanks for the concern. I had a blood test yesterday. It came back today negative, but I have to go back next week for another one. I had thought about going to the hospital to get an ultrasound, but I dont want to stir up panic. I dont have much pain, just a little cramping here and there. My daughter took 4 1/2 weeks to show up on a blood test. Thanks you be well too. Stick to your guns if u think u are, u might be right......................HI TOT! Yes if at all u ever feel that they arent taking u seriously dont even hesitate for a moment. Go see someone else. Get the care u need because these things can be quite dangerous. The care for u and the possible if????? Are what matters most. I guess I have one more week to wait to find out. Good luck

hi ladies i might have some answers for all you guys i too had the mirena iud in when i was 4 weeks post partum i finally had to take it out i was in pain everyday well i felt the wholr pregnancy episode and just basically everything you guys are saying, well my midwife just says you have something there and its been there for awile so ur body thinks its a baby and with my pain my uterus was cramping so bad it was pulling the iud up and finally when she took it out i've been feelinggreat no pains we have been using condoms until recently but i have a question i know its kinda dumb but can prec_m get you pregnnat weve been doing the pull out method and around my ovulation days now i cramp go pee and when i wipe there is a little light pink but thats it but only when i pee thogh could i have gotten pregnant i dont think so because everyone tells me know prec_m is like a lubricate so any suggestions would help i dont wanna make a big deal outta nothing so...

hi sariah, prec_m can contain a small amount of sperm, getting pregnant from prec_m though is slim, but does happen.

Lori i have a friend who is also pregnant on the IUD and the doctor doesnt seem to have tried to get it out! and i am worried that i could be pregnant did you or anyone reading this message have had really strong pain in the lower left side a__sociated with the iud its sharp and strong please help me thank you

Oh great! Here I thought I was on cloud 9, and the marina isn't doing anything. I think i'm having morning sickness, but I'm bleeding like mad! Some friends have been joking about me being pregnant, but I can't be! I'm bleeding quite a lot. I'm going to have an obgyn appointment soon. I'll see what to do.

Hello all! good news first - got my period, not pregnant, hurray! second, to Roxsanna - this has been said before, but should get rpeated to evryone who might be pregnant with iud - if you have abdominal pain and there is ANY chance of ectopic pregnancy, GET CHECKED OUT, until you know what's causing the pain. ectopics WILL kill you if untreated. please don't ignore it. regarding your friend - many women have normal pregnancies (and babies) even with an iud still in, but it should be watched. Hi Roxsanna, I'm Ashley. I was actually in the hospital all yesterday and last night for sharp and very severe pain on my right side. I could almost swear I am pregnant from all the pregnancy signs. 2 1/2 weeks late, nauseas, tired, peeing alot. They did an ultrasound and I had a cyst rupture on my right side. Lots of small ones on my right side, one big one on my left. If could be that you have ovarian cysts. They hurt like hell. I had one rupture when I was 14. Also make sure it isnt an eptopic pregnancy.

Hello everyone, I am 26yrs old I have 2 beautiful daughters and decided to get a copper IUD. 8 months later I get pregnant. I am 8 weeks pregnant my ob couldn't find the strings ofcourse and this just made my husband and I lives so complicated. We are so afraid of preterm labor or infection that can occur. I was thinking of terminating my preganancy until I found this message board. I have read all the experiences of Ethi, Charmane, Amy and Gemma. You women have gave me so much hope an d encouragement. I have decided to go on with my pregnancy. Thankyou if it wasn't for you all I would have terminated a perfectly healthy baby.. Now It is all in god's hands and we'll me praying for the best...

I just took a + HPT today. I'm exactly 5 weeks from my lmp. I called the doctor and the nurse said the IUD must be removed and that there's no chance of saving the pregnancy. However, I don't think ithat's always the case. Any advice, positive thoughts here? Thanks.

rockijames.. I cannot beleive that your nurse would say that..ofcourse there is a chance of saving your pregnancy. Removing the iud is the most important and highly recommended.. but when removed there is a risk of misscariage. But many have been lucky and did not have a miscarriage and had healthy pregnancies.

Wow- I had no idea that this was happening to so many people. I have had my mirena in place now for 3 years... had it put in after a miscarriage. My period has been CRAZY! Had one for 2 days starting 4/23 which was normal- then had another one for 3 days 3/12- which was very early... now I've been spotting lightly off & on since the 1st. I thought maybe my cycle was changing since we went to visit family last month- with the whole being around other women stuff. But a week ago I was walking with my husband and saw my reflection in the window- I look freakin pregnant! Now even my baggy pants are tight! I've taken 3 home test in the last 2 weeks- all negative. So I'm off to the doctor on Thrusday to see what's going on. Has anyone ever experienced mirena gving off a false negative? If I'm figuring the dates right, I should definately be getting a positive by now.
